Seriously. That looks like something you buy at Dollar General.

Also damn does that woman have a douchebag "I'm better than you and I know it" smile.

As a blonde bimbo with a robot for a husband, I take umbrage with your remark. That being said, I really don't think the left should go with "omg she spends too much money on clothes" tack.

Yeah, who cares what she wears? I only care when she opens her yap and helps Mitt campaign.

Rich people buy expensive things. Good detective work, subby. You've blown the case of whether the Romneys have a lot of money wide open.

I couldn't care less what they, especially Mrs Romney, buy with their money. That is not the issue, and you're not helping by posting this crap.

I thought it was a fish too.

They have money, they're allowed to buy expensive shirts. I have trouble spending $29 on a shirt, I can't imagine spending $900, but I might spend frivolously if I was a multi-millionaire too.

Um, no. If you're part of the campaign, you're open to criticism.

Lord knows the right goes out of their way to attack Michelle.

Nonsense, she's only doing campaign TV interviews and giving campaign statement about every other day, she's clearly not part of the campaign at all.

Her stated role in the campaign is to help Mitt close the gender gap by relating to women in a way that he can't. I think asking if single moms can relate to a stay-at-home mom who throws down a thousand dollars for a shirt is fair game. Or maybe not since she apparently didn't buy the matching pants.

And I raise you a Michele Obama for the lulz.

I really dont give a shiat about who wears what or how much, but really, if you are gonna criticize one why defend another?

Because people can relate to Michelle Obama. She didn't get rich by marrying into money. Like Obama said last week, they married into debt. This issue isn't that Ann Romney wears an expensive shirt, it's that her stated role in the campaign is to court the female vote and this just ties into the meme that the Romney's are out of touch. Is it petty? Yes. Will it be forgotten by next week? Yes. Is it fair game? If the GOP is going to mock Michelle Obama for having too much muscle tone in her arms, then yes, a thousand dollar shirt is fair game.

I'll be perfectly honest and admit I didn't know one could drop $900 on a shirt. I've *seen* $900 suits, and I've owned $900 cars. My kitchen has a $900 fridge. (affectionately known as "pleasepleaseplease be the only appliance that breaks this year pleasepleaseplease")

Frankly, with a couple kids and a mortgage, if I found a spare Jackson in my pocket, I'd be thinking of a week's worth of lunches before I'd be thinking of shirts.

But I gotta wonder, what does it feel like to wear a $900 shirt? Do they tailor it like a suit jacket? Is it signed by an artist? I think it's safe to say I'll never know the answer to these things.

Jackson Herring: Audubon had some serious problems drawing like wings

I suspect that is for the benefit of the watcher, two positions of the wing (of likely of two different birds, both within the standard) might give said watcher a better shot at IDing a given bird...

2012-05-02 11:28:24 PM
I too thought it was a fish until it was pointed out it was a bird. Somehow knowing it was a bird actually made the shirt look uglier.
