They just got outdated, just like neck loads of sterlings, suede-fronts, bell-bottoms, and tri-colored shearlings.

thegod082: (As much as I love "Forever," though, my actual favorite is "Ironman." I started smoking pot daily when I was 17, and that had album had been out for about 6 years, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I did "Cuban Linx" or "Liquid Swords" until I'd be getting high and listening to it straight through a million times, trying to decipher the lyrics. "Forever" was comparable in that way: A lot of the stuff can be enjoyed just for its catchiness, but there's a different layer underneath.)

My buddy mad a mix for me when I was 16 entitled, "It's The Wu Comin' Through." It was one of those albums that was played to death. I still have the unusable disc in a binder for old times sake.

/had the crudely drawn W and everything.

phedex: Glenford: darch: I am in no WAY a fan of rap, but have ALWAYS thought Wu Tang brought a fresh perspective to the genre. SO much better and interesting than all the macho, crotch-grabbing horses**t that dominates most rap.

I'm with you, I like *good* rap/hip hop not the shiat you described. Groups like
A Tribe Called Quest
De La Soul
Arrested Development

You forgot Jurassic 5, only put out a couple albums but they both were great hip hop albums that were outside the norm, especially when they first came out.

Hell yes to all of that.

And my CSB: I used to work with this really tall, gorgeous "sistah" in a knife store in the mall here in the DC suburbs. She was always talking about how she was buddies with "Meth" and always hanging out with him. How he'd hang out with her, the Wu-Tang guys and other famous rap/hip-hop stars, and they were just friends and he was very respectful of herself and other women.

We always figured she was full of shiat, and wasn't REALLY friends with Meth, Wu-tang and assorted other rap luminaries - but she was really cool and hot as the sun so we let it slide.

Then one day farking Biz Markie came in looking for her and we decided she just might have been telling the truth all along. Miss you Yolanda!

Gunny Highway: They are the best thing rap music produced.

Hell, best thing that came out of Shaolin (Staten Island in Wu-Tang slang).
