Wait, Dōjinshi? *FAVORITED*

So that's what it takes, huh?

Not being DougieAXP is only step 1.

So we have not being Dougie (check), liking anime (sorta...), and doing dojinshi (nope).

Oh well, you're still my favorite favorited Farker anyway.

Well I would have said liking anime was just a step, but especially here on Fark grown adult females liking anime (much less drawing it) is rare.

And she seems pleasent.

Yeah I'll probably check out her stuff when I get home. Work's proxies seem to hate anything bloggy or with a lot of graphics.

Awww, thanks. I do my best to be pleasant, even on here.

I should have said that I re-sell doujinshi. I can't draw a circle to save my life, let alone things requiring multiple shapes. And I haven't updated the site where I sell it in forever - other things got in the way. Should get around to that at some point, but it's a ton of work.

So that wasn't Candice Bergen doing a Diane Keaton impression? Wow.

That was hilarious. Like many have said, it's rare to see Colbert not in charge of an interview. Keaton looked drunk, and Colbert just played along.

I actually turned the TV off when that interview started because I figured it would be really boring.

Starting our relationship off on a lie is not a good way to start things.

And I have had Total Fark before too. Believe you me, threadjacking is a tradition around these parts.

I don't hate Diane Keaton, but every time I see her I'm reminded of Warren Beatty, and I hate Warren Beatty because I sat through Bulworth in the theaters. In particular, this scene is where he went right on my shiatlist, never to be removed from it:

There was no excuse for that scene, even in 1998. NONE.

On TV?? And it wouldn't be awkward? clearly, you are made of things that are different from many of the things that others are made of.

And maybe she's a little drunk, but it sounds like she came out determined to outwit the witty guy.

Could have sworn she was in a geriatric-esque rom-com with "as good" in the title a decade ago. No matter....This is her most accomplished role yet.

The best Colbert interview ever is when he had some religious scholar on, and then completely decimated the guys point with actual Catholic teachings. The guy could only shoot back with "well, you obviously paid attention in Sunday School."

To which Colbert immediately fired back, "I teach Sunday School, motherf**ker!"

Greatest comeback I've ever seen.

I only mentioned it in response to Gat_00 suggesting that this interview was staged. I gave a recent example of an obviously staged interview to show the difference. That's all.

I was going to mute the sound while that interview was on so I could keep reading my GoT thread on TWOP, but let it go instead. Glad I did. I almost woke the hubby laughing. It was great fun, and both of them were enjoying themselves. When they were both crouching down at the end, I had a flashback to "Fawlty Towers" and laughed even harder. Good times.

Wayne 985: Quasar: Is this one of those Richard Branson things that's going to be incredibly uncomfortable to watch?

I'm not familiar with this. What happened with Branson?

The first time Branson came on the show, it's like he didn't get Colbert's persona and it resulted in a really uncomfortable interview culminating in Branson throwing a glass of water on Colbert and laughing nervously. It was painful.

Shenanigans!: e-christ: Did anyone else notice that TFA describes the interview as inaccurately and disingenuously as possible? Seems kinda weird, considering they had the video embedded. Perhaps the author doesn't know what laughter after a statement signifies...

Guess someone's trying to stir up controversy where there is none. "Diane Keaton acts silly during Colbert interview, fails to truly grasp the tone of Colbert's show" is a much less titillating headline than "Keaton calls Colbert a Pervert!!!1!!eleventy!"

You mean that he's not funny? I even watched this clip hoping he might be for a change. He tries too hard to get laughs but all he really only has one gag and it's old. The most amusing part of the whole thing was how hard his audience laughs when he says "farking" (or whatever he said that was bleeped).

Colbert fans always seem to say his guests don't get his "tone" or whatever and that may be the case for some, but I didn't see that here.

Wow, usually those that don't "get" Colbert can't understand why he's funny. You seem to be vaguely aware that there is something about his tone that must be "gotten" but are still unable to nail it down. It's like there's a blind spot in your sense of humour. Fascinating.

Don't worry though, like colour blind folks, you can still function in society.

I don't know. It seemed like Colbert was seriously having trouble keeping her engaged in the interview and not off on some weird tangent.

I really didn't think it was that funny, or that she "got" him. It was just some silliness. Sounds like some people give Colbert more credit for owning the masses than the actual fans do. And I'm quite a fan.

Nope, that's not what I said or meant at all. What I got from that clip was Keaton was in on the joke and tried to play the role of the adversarial interview guest, but unlike Colbert, she couldn't do it, which resulted in unintentional comedy on her part.

Like Colbert or not, he is playing a character who by his own admission is a confrontational jerk during interviews. Some guests get this and are great at playing along; some don't. In Keaton's case, she got it but didn't successfully execute the "playing along" part. Maybe if she'd had a better director she could've pulled it off...

Sorry you don't find him funny, but that's life. Different people find different things funny, and no amount of arguing can change anyone's mind. Hope you enjoy whatever it is that makes you laugh.

No, she didn't. Her abstract idea of throwing him off with unsettling attacks and flippancy could have been awesome, if it had been executed with humor and wit. But it wasn't. She started off with the "were you naked" non-sequitur, and it just got lamer from there: "I don't like you, I don't want to see your butt-naked ass..." Was this some kind of inside joke? You seem to think this was hilarious all on its own, if that was supposedly out-Colberting Colbert. Do you think third-grade recess should have it's own time slot on Comedy Central?
