cubic_spleen: hubiestubert: tryptik: kid_icarus: Uhm...ok. But how is that suppose to protect white people? And from what, exactly?

Most white people are gay, and the only thing keeping them from voraciously diving into some oiled-up man-ass is the ability to marry?

Sadly, it's true. Look at the birthrate in Massachusetts. All my joy in boning the girl critter is drained out knowing how much man on man/woman on woman action is going on all around me. At this rate, we'll have to take in a girl into the relationship just to keep up with the Joneses...

This is known as the "law of conservation of bootie". The more humping going on in general, the less play any individual person is getting. Gay relationships dilute the pool even further, so we need to stop "those people*" from getting their groove on, so good straight white folk can reproduce.

*for Republicans, "those people" can also mean blacks, hispanics, asians, and middle easterners.

I read that as "Middle Earthers"
/obligatory precious!

Angry Drunk Bureaucrat: Greenshuz: Angry Drunk Bureaucrat: I Said: An anti gay racist republican. Non-story, move along.

Snark aside, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to get out of an article about the wife of a single legislator from North Carolina who said some stupid sh*t.

(Now, if the rest of the NC legislature passes the bill, maybe I'll be more concerned.)

They did. That's how it got to be a ballot referendum.
BTW, the "single legislator"? He's the guy who wrote the bill.
Concerned yet?

Single legislators offer up stupid sh*t bills all the time; a lot of these legislators are dumber than a bag of hammers, but I wouldn't necessarily consider them indicative of a larger population.

This one legislator came up with the idea to put this amendment on the ballot - an amendment that makes gay marriage double-illegal since there were already laws against it in NC. And not enough of his fellow legislators pulled him aside and pointed out the sheer idiocy to get him to stop. How is the fact that there wasn't enough resistance to this idiocy to stop it not indicate there the population of dumbasses in the NC government is greater than 1 single man?

Angry Drunk Bureaucrat: That being said: what the racist wife of a single racist legislator in North Carolina says is a non sequitor, and distracts from the overall ridiculousness of the referendum.

Right after you learn how to spell non sequitur, you should learn what it means. And then you should have that head injury attended to.

Epicedion

As a resident of NC, I'm torn on this issue. If we vote against the amendment, we're voting for the eventual destruction of marriage and promoting vice over traditional American values. If we vote for it, though, the only outlet that gay people will have for marriage will be with straight people or other gay people of the opposite sex, which will promote partially gay families, possibly just creating new generations of gay or part-gay children (children who are raised gay, possibly without the explicit knowledge of the other parent). And what if a gay woman marries a straight man and has a child, then divorces the man and goes off to raise her child gay? We would have to create new parental rights for straight people in order to protect their children from the influence of gay parents in heterosexual marriages. I know I for one would feel betrayed and want legal backing if I married a woman and had a child only to find out that she was gay and wanted to raise our child gay.

Shirley, you can't be serious?

Wow.... It's not like we needed yet another reminder of how illogical opposition to gay marriage is in a "free" society... but there's another one anyway. Because that makes no goddamn sense.

Also, to the folks supposedly opposed to it because of their "Christianity" (and that would almost certainly include this woman and her husband too), that doesn't make sense either unless you are utterly unfamiliar with Christ's teachings. Marriage is - regardless of its ancient history - essentially a public acknowledgment affirmation between two people of their love and a public promise to stay together through thick and thin. If those people think Jesus would be proud of them for blocking such an expression and promise of love then I would suggest they crack a bible open once or twice and try and actually read Jesus' teachings.

Ed Grubermann: I've never understood what's "Communist" about "race mixing".

Race mixing (such as school desegregation) leads to miscegenation and mongrelization, which weakens the purity of the white race, giving rise to an American populace which is weak, lazy, indifferent, and overall less capable of resisting a Communist takeover.... or so the "argument" went at the time. It was also claimed that the chance for miscegenative marriages was one of the main Soviet planks in their attempts to recruit blacks.

TV's Vinnie: Oh dear Lord (/facepalm)! Just when you think that the rightards can't outderp themselves, they surprise us all with just how subhuman they really are. They're like cartoon caricatures of right wing republicanism.

Is it from the eight years of empowerment under the Bush regime, or a giant fit of WHARRGARBL brought on by the notion of a black man in the White House?

I've known the right wing to be a brutal bigoted fascist death cult, but they at least had the minimal intelligence and awareness of their surroundings to try to hide their more disgusting traits out of concern of a backlash. But lately, they cannot seem to contain themselves.

I can only shudder in horror to think what these frenzied creatures will be capable of in four years from now, or even next year if Romney wins the election.

They are becoming cartoons, self-parodies. They only do ok in elections now because a good portion of the American public agrees with some of their policy positions (it's hard to convince a diehard anti-abortion activist, somebody who hates paying taxes, or a gun nut to vote Democratic).
