In China if you break a deal, you face the wheel.

I don't see how this can be described as "sick". It's a very inventive solution to a problem.

When life gives you shiat, make it biofuel?

2012-05-02 03:32:50 PM
Well, why not? It's methane, innit? Don't you people want methane?

2012-05-02 03:43:04 PM
Who they gonna get to shovel it?

Methane cometh from pig shiat.

/ain't we a pair, ragady man.

2012-05-02 04:00:37 PM
i remember reading once that with the appropriate fittings, one sheep produced enough methane from farts alone to run a truck for about 45km in one day.

sure that ain't much till you think about the relative size of the sheep.

and turning poo into gas fuel isn't new tech, it's just finally catching on.

The first place you'll find is a sleaze-pit called Chinatown. Now if the earth doesn't swallow you up first, that place sure as hell will!

FTA: Only one tenth of pig waste is used now as manure.

So eating vegetable that are grown in pig shiat is alright, but cooking them with fuel from shiat is sick?

I'm confused subby.

Foemer East Texas farm boy, here. If they're going to use pig wastes for fuel, they need to get the smell out somehow, or do it out in the middle of a desert or something. There's only one thing I've smelled that's worse than pigshiat, and that's burning pigshiat.

If it is what I am familiar with, It goes in a large anaerobic reactor vessel where it will be broken down by bacteria into methane and a high nitrogen/phosphorus fertilizer.

They burn the methane to heat water and generate steam for the turbines.

The fertilizer will be sold back to the farmers for their fields.

Just don't let bats get near the pig droppings. Or was it pigs near the bat droppings?

Whatever. Just stay far away from Hong Kong restaurants with filthy kitchens.

Difficulty: How to get rid of the hydrogen sulfide, water vapor, and carbon dioxide that is also created during the digestion process. The scrubbers cut into the profit margin necessary to keep this option viable

Do not let perfect be the enemy of good.

Is this less polluting than coal?

Is this utilizing a resource that would otherwise be producing methane and off-gassing directly into the atmosphere?

Isn't this largely considered carbon neutral (even though the production of pig feed is not).

Came here to say that. What's possibly sick about taking shiat and turning it into something useful?
