I associate the smell of cut grass with sneezing because of allergies or photic sneeze reflex (mowing grass and sunny days go hand in hand) or some damned thing.

It's the grass giving off a chemical signal, warning the other grasses that they are about to enter into combat. Sadly, even with this sophisticated warning mechanism, the grass rarely wins against its much bigger and much better armed foe, the lawnmower.

Isn't the smell of fresh cut grass the plant equivalent of screaming in agony as the plant is cut in half? I was told once the scent was a defensive/warning reaction to alert surrounding grass something is eating them.

The Dutch apple pie candle makes me want to vomit. It is something I smelled often when searching for a home. Apparently one of the sales techniques is "Light a candle that smells like apple pie because it invokes memories of good old home cooking".

It's the same reaction with any of the other baked goods or candy scented candles. Yuck.
