Leftists loved bin Ladin so much they had him shot in the head.

Somacandra: MasterThief: Fox in particular treated him like the red-headed stepchild of Satan and the enemy of everything good and 'Merican. Is it really that hard to figure out why Al Qaeda didn't like Fox?

But they LIKED that. That's the point. They WANTED to be the big bad boogeyman. That's sorta the definition of 'terrorism'--spreading fear and stuff.

At this point you should probably just chalk it up to reality being the exact opposite of what your favorite news network told you it is, and stop posting before the real world makes you look even more stupid.

there's a core of sharp self-criticism that makes clear Gadahn, like his boss, understood that al-Qaeda was losing its war.

But they won the war. We took the bait and the sabre rattlers took off with all of our tax money for the next 5 generations. We're bankrupt and fighting amongst ourselves over complete bullshiat while the ruling class divides up what little is left. What little democracy is left is being siphoned off by Homeland security and TSA in the name of "national security". They farking won.

Cybernetic: Robert Fisk of The Independent of Britain. He cites three Americans ("Brian Russ," "Simon Hirsh" and "Jerry Van Dyke"), though it's uncertain whom he meant.

I'd guess that the first two are Brian Ross and Seymour Hersh. Not sure about the third.

Jerry Van Dyke from Coach?

HeartBurnKid: Millennium: Diogenes: Just goes to show you what a dumbfark Gadahn is. He should LOVE Fox News. They make al-Qaeda much bigger than what it is.

Nah, it just shows that Gadahn doesn't (didn't? Is he still alive?) think that all press is good press. To be honest, I don't think that makes him stupid at all.

Perhaps, but Al Qaeda is a terrorist organization. You'd think they'd be fans of the news org that has done the most to keep Americans quivering in fear of them (though they'd never say it out loud, of course).

The thing about terrorism is that there are two sides to the fight-or-flight reflex. Fear can make you flee, cower, and appease: the sorts of things al-Qaeda wants. But it can also make you move faster, hit harder, and act without mercy: things al-Qaeda would have a lot of trouble standing up to.

If you want to dominate people through fear, you have to be very careful to stoke only the flight side of that reflex: to make people do what you want, rather than resist you or even repel you. Whatever else can be said of Fox News -much of it bad- any fear they stoke is very clearly on the fight side of the reflex: the type of fear that AQ doesn't want people to feel. Is it really so surprising that AQ would hate them for that?

Despite the -ism terrorism is not an ideology, it's a tactic. Fear is not the goal it is a means.

Well, what exactly do they have in common? Lets have it.

Compare the left to Osama... I'll start

The left believes in gay marriage, woman's rights, minority rights, religion out of the public, gay rights, abortion, birth control, etc.

How would Osama feel about that? Sounds like he wouldn't have much in common with the left after all.

Sounds like Osama and the religious radicals actually have more in common with American conservatives than you want to trolly admit.

Osama wants the America and it's buddy Israel out of the middle east. These are the main goals of his organization. The Left, such as it is, wants the US out of the middle east and at the last to cut Israel loose to deal with their own shiat.

The agreement is quite a bit more substantial than some vague correlation between us conservatives domestic policies and al quiedas

I read that 7th grader TIME article on the raid decision this week. No mention of ever consider capturing him and trying him. Not unhappy he's dead since he's behind 2K deaths, but it would have looked nice (internationally) to try him for it and squeeze some intel out of him (for us) before hanging him or lethal injection, etc.
