She probably started off by claiming it was estate and alimony money, and by the time she got totally obnoxious, she was able to say that it was all from investments/winning at competitions. I've lived in this state for 37 years and don't consider myself neither party. I've seen the worst from both parties, but it's Illinois overall has been run by the Democrats and it does have the reputation as one of the top corrupt states. Citation shouldn't be hard to find if you want to look for it yourself.

Massachusetts is similar. Corrupt & Democrat. The easy guess would be to associate the higher number of programs and higher budgets in a Democrat-run system with the attraction of corrupt people to large sums of money and access to power.
