Paula Nancy Millstone Jennings: I can tell you that we do like both of those. We just have our own organic, artisanal versions of both.

i.e. Hairy, unshaven boobies and vegan hot "wings".

thamike: fozziewazzi: downtownkid: First of all, Hooters has shiatty wings and there are dozens of better places to get wings in NYC.

That being said, this isn't about wings, or misogyny. It's about race and class. The neighborhoods where the protestors live are just west of "brownstone" brooklyn. Brownstone brooklyn is incredibly liberal, wealthy and exceedingly white. They prefer everything artisanal, organic, cruelty free and not in their backyard. Just to the north you have Bed-Stuy, Bushwick, East New York and other very poor black neighborhoods. this has a lot less to do with wings and a lot more with "protecting" property values.

Another winner. These are like gated communities, only the 'gates' are high priced rents, expensive boutique stores and restaurants, and very limited parking. Anything that would draw in outsiders (i.e. minority riff-raff) into the neighborhood, whether its a popular entertainment venue, a chain store, or a parking lot, immediately draws protests. But they can't actually say that so they'll instead argue about neighborhood 'character' and a 'family-friendly environment'.

Both of these comments are so full of sh*t, I don't even know what to say.

It's not that my comment was full of shiat; you're just confused because your head is up your ass.

Carousel Beast: Another example of red staters enforcing their morals on people.

Nightsweat: Hooters is what really sheltered Southern boys think is hot. Or possibly what gay guys think straight guys like.
Hate the frickin' pantyhose, you can see better outfits in any good fancy bar and the food there blows.

Ah, retarded Yankees. We love your type down here. Specifically, we'd love you to stop moving down here and keep your stupid, bigoted asses up north.

Pffft. Don't worry. I'm not heading to cousin-farking land anytime soon.

This!

And if subby things Hooters wings are "amazing" they must never have had good wings which is in itself a tragedy.

This conversation ("Hooters sucks x is better") has gone down here a hundred times - every time something happens at a Hooters, someone doesn't want a Hooters, or someone just says the word 'hooters' in a thread.
I'm betting subby's headline is more "heh, watch this".
It worked.

It's awesome that people can be snobs over deep-fried chicken trimmings covered in overpowering sauce. Don't get me wrong I like chicken wings too but they aren't the second coming or anything. When most people eat wings they are drunk and their idea of 'fine dining' may include McDonalds breakfast.

Park slope has two things, restaurants and young families.
I guess if the hooters is next to a stadium then it will pull in a crowd, but with two full avenues lined with top flight restaurants I don't see why anyone would want to eat bad wings served by women in too much make up ugly shirts and shorts.

/now if there was a strip club with a buffet, just tell me where to park the stroller.

Heather McMaster, 35, said the move by Hooters is no surprise but said she doesn't believe anyone will even go.

'It doesn't surprise me that businesses like Hooters are coming along with the stadium,' she said.

'The restaurant would never attract customers because it's a misogynistic, sexist outfit and nobody from the neighborhood will go.'
