Silly Jesus: cman: While we are at it, why dont we grant her a commercial pilots license? And, to be even more nicer to this fine disabled lady, why dont we give her a job as a scientist at a lab where small pox and anthrax are studied? If she were to go to school it would be discriminatory because she cannot pass the classes.

I am also pro-eugenics.

Can I fly right seat?

Down syndrome or Down's syndrome, also known as trisomy 21, is a chromosomal condition caused by the presence of all or part of an extra 21st chromosome. It is named after John Langdon Down, the British physician who described the syndrome in 1866. The condition was clinically described earlier in the 19th century by Jean Etienne Dominique Esquirol in 1838 and Edouard Seguin in 1844. Down syndrome was identified as a chromosome 21 trisomy by Dr. Jérôme Lejeune in 1959. Down syndrome can be identified in a baby at birth, or by prenatal screening.

The incidence of Down syndrome is estimated at 4.6 per 10,000 births, Down syndrome occurs in all human populations, and analogous conditions have been found in other species such as chimpanzees.

Often Down syndrome is associated with a delay in cognitive ability and physical growth, and a particular set of facial characteristics. The average IQ of young adults with Down syndrome is around 50, compared to normal children with an IQ of 100. A large proportion of Individuals with Down syndrome have a severe degree of intellectual disability.

Many children with Down syndrome who have received family support, enrichment therapies and tutoring manage to graduate from high school and are able to do paid work, and some participate in post-secondary education as well.

Individuals with Down syndrome may have some or all of the following physical characteristics: microgenia (an abnormally small chin), an unusually round face, macroglossia (protruding or oversized tongue), an almond shape to the eyes caused by an epicanthic fold of the eyelid, upslanting palpebral fissures (the separation between the upper and lower eyelids), shorter limbs, a single transverse palmar crease (a single instead of a double crease across one or both palms), poor muscle tone, and a larger than normal space between the big and second toes.Health concerns for individuals with Down syndrome include a higher risk for congenital heart defects, recurrent ear infections that may lead to hearing loss, obstructive sleep apnea, thyroid dysfunctions, and obesity.

Early childhood intervention, screening for common problems, medical treatment where indicated, a conducive family environment, and vocational training can improve the overall development of children with Down syndrome. Education and proper care will improve quality of life significantly, despite genetic limitations.

Sounds like the image should have the girl's mom on it instead:
The mom of Heidi Crowter has even gotten cops involved, but unsurprisingly, law enforcement has been unsuccessful in removing the image from across the web.
...
Heidi's mom Liz spoke to The Sun, explaining that the image is causing her daughter distress, and that she believes that unauthorized use of it should be prosecutable

"She has also won second place in a national Glamor Shots contest."

Want to know why she is second and not first or third? First place is reserved for the person who's picture has commercial value and third place would have seemed "mean" because it is an even more very obvious pity award.

And how do we know they were "guilted" into voting for her? "Nunez picked out a pink sparkly dress for the big occasion, and her father went as her date." She couldn't even get a date.

If they aren't going to give it out based on the traditional standard of popularity and blowjobs then why not give it to the person with the highest SAT score instead of the one with the lowest? Why do we reward failure (genetically or otherwise) and ignore success?

Your definition of success is seriously flawed and as a result, you will never be anywhere near as happy in life as this Down's gal will be. The kid won. That is success. Those invested parties or stakeholders (fellow students) gave it to her based on love, her love for them and their reciprocated love. That's more powerful and successful than anything you will ever be capable of understanding.

She would feel sorry for you and give you a hug, even though you still wouldn't get it.

I'm glad she won but they are high school kids. They very well could have given it to her based on pity, peer pressure to "make her dream come true", or a desire to make themselves feel better by doing a good deed.

Ignorance (Downs) is bliss, as they say.

I doubt that it was really love for her and was more of a peer pressure situation. Once it got going you don't want to be the perceived a-hole who doesn't support the gene pool reject.

Prom queen?

Well, I guess that goes to show that people with Down's Syndrome really can live normal lives. Lives full of attention whoring and superficiality.

Hope she gets it, just to piss off the Alpha Females in her school who have been dreaming of being prom queen for most of their lives.
