A sudden influx of adequate-paying jobs could put a damper in their sex tourism industry.

I worked Cobra Gold and got to spend a month in Thailand. I remember one of the first nights there doing the "everyone haggles" thing for a tuk-tuk ride. The next day I did the math and realized we haggled over less than a dollar. I stopped caring at that point and just enjoyed my meal, drinks, and dessert for a few hundred baht and paid the driver whatever he wanted.

FTFA:Ms Yingluck said in her speech to mark Labour Day that one of the major reasons foreign investors chose Thailand for their production bases was the quality of Thai workers, their skills and sense of responsibility.

Lady, if it didn't work in American, it ain't gonna work in Thailand. They're just going to export your job to the next shiattiest country.

There was a Thai girl at my high school with the last name "Pumsaporn". Guess what line of work she ended up going into?

Ok, so she ended up becoming a nurse, but I'll bet her sponge baths produced many a boner.

My college roommate was the son of the CIC of the Thai Air Force.

I visited him him after grad school 65 room "house" and 30 full time maintenance staff. Of the two buddies in school with him, one had the fist Porsche 928 in the US and the other had a Corvette Indy Pace Car....The Pace Car that traded for $50K in because it was a "good investment".

Income disparity there is even worse than here!

I'm sorry Fark, but I have to give a +1 to this headline. I know that we've gotten sick and tired of the "I'm the goddamn Batman" meme, but this one is just too clever to ignore.

True, income disparity is really really bad in Thailand. On the other hands, it does have 1% unemployment rate.

As if that does jack squat for the people this article is about.

If you ever have the chance to go to Thailand, I highly recommend it. There are some beautiful places to visit. And you'll feel like a 1%er.

I remember taking taxis anywhere we wanted to go. I don't remember a taxi ride ever costing more than about $5 US. We came home with so many cool souvenirs... Stayed in a 5 star hotel, ate extremely well the entire time...

Everything costs more or less what it would here in the US only in baht. And you get, like, 30 baht to a dollar.

My wife used to work with a Thai girl with the last name "Poopityastaporn". The girl was a behavioral specialist (therapist). She's since moved back home.

Well, you've priced yourself out of our market with your $10 a day labour. We're off to make cheap shoes in Indonesia. Which we will turn around and sell for $400.00.--Bhata Shoos
