Holy overkill, Batman!

I don't know which is worse. That they plan on making six Hulk movies, or that there is an actor willing to do all of them.

Six picture deal with Marvel? Maybe he won't play Hulk in each one? I can't imagine any studio wanting to make six movies with Mark Ruffalo as the lead. As Dr. Banner, popping up now and then? Sure. As Hulk once or twice more in Hulk movies? Sure. In Avengers 2 & 3? Maybe.

Probably just the indie darling Ruffalo trying to get some long term security instead of looking for work in art films with $2 mil budgets.

6 pictures seems to be their standard deal these days. I assume that it's a mix of Avengers, Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor. Maybe a Hulk movie.

It's like how SLJ got a nine-picture deal. Ruffalo will probably have one Hulk movie, three Avengers, and appear in two others

That's probably a safe assumption.

Six Hulk movies would be great, because they would start to get pretty strange after 3 or 4. It will be like Hulk vs The Leprechaun vs Jason or some shiat like that

Man, I remember Ruffalo in an old episode of Due South back in the '90s. At least I think it was him - playing a father who was trying to sell his newborn son for money to pay off his debts.

Plus that film he did a few yers back with Rachel Weisz, THe Brothers Bloom. THat was pretty good.

A lot of those guys are signed onto 6+ picture deals. It's not full feature solo character films. Let's assume solo sequel for each, maybe two, an obligatory two more avenger's sequels, and then that leaves three crossover/cameo bits in each other's films.

Two solos two avengers two crossovers is my guess.

I love the Hulk, but he's best as a supporting character. Kind of like the Janitor from Scrubs. He's big, mean, and oddly funny and sympathetic, but a little dull all by himself.

You think we'll get away with less than 3 Avengers movies? For whatever reason Hollywood seems to have decided 3 is the magic number for big franchises.

You're right, there probably will be three. Take off one of the small roles and add another Avengers sequel.

And considering that it looks like The Avengers will have taken over $500m worldwide by the end of this weekend I suspect they are already throwing money at Joss Whedon to get him to write/direct the sequel, if he isn't already signed up.

Oh boy, I really hope they reboot the hulk franchise. If there is one that that never gets old is seeing origin stories 50 times in a row.

Carth: You think we'll get away with less than 3 Avengers movies?

No. There will be the initial 3, mainly focusing on one character, then a sequel one that shows the origins of said character, then another one that shows how they all came together, only different than the first time. Then there will be a sequel to that, then the inevitable spinoff, then the reboot. The reboot will get a sequel, but suck, then get re-rebooted, until that character that bombed in the reboot and the re-reboot shows up in another superhero smorgasbord, and be played decent enough to where people will want to see it re-re-rebooted.

2012-05-01 06:43:39 PM

Eric Bana would have been good as Dr Banner but they just made him into too much of a wimp plus the Hulk origin was beyond srewed up in that movie. Too bad Ed Norton couldn't continue as Banner because he played him just right.

Ruffalo is a good actor but I really don't like many of his movies. The only two movies I liked him in was Zodiac and Collateral.

They already did the origins of the main Avengers - only Hawkeye and Black Widow haven't had origins.

Seeing how they're keeping the same guy for 6 movies, I don't see a reboot coming. We will have to sit through Spider-Man getting bit again. Well, I probably won't.

They all will be rebooted eventually, then have how they all met re-rebooted, then there will be a sequel, a spinoff, leading to a re-re-reboot, leading to.....

I was getting used to the actor portraying Bruce Banner being replaced more often than Spinal Tap's drummer, and in Hulk's case it kinda made sense. The transformation process obviously caused monumental changes to his entire bone structure, there's no reason he'd automatically look the same when he de-hulked.

Hell, cast 9 different actors play him in the same movie = 8 more chances to be nominated for a Best Actor Academy Award!

/The whole genre has jumped the shark and that a sequel to Ghost Rider was made is proof.

It's the only way either side would probably agree to the deal (i.e., one or two scenes in other movies, supporting character in one or two, and at least one where he's the lead).

wait, so is the Eric Bana Hulk and the Edward Norton Hulk in the same continuity (continuum? whatever) as this Hulk? I guess they would be since they had the preview at the end of the last hulk movie...

I'm just gonna say this. I think comic book movies have jumped the shark. I don't even care about them anymore and I used to be all about it. It seems like literally half of the blockbusters are now comic book movies instead of something original and cool. I'm tired of it. I haven't even seen the last couple and I doubt I'll see Avengers. yawn
