Diogenes: Trying way too hard to be my friend causes me to retreat in the other direction. Trying harder once you've failed makes me run faster.

I dunno. If he really was trying to be my friend. I mean actually trying to find out what my concerns are and at lease listening to the answer then I would be damn impressed. Similarly if he would just be himself and not try to fake it that would be fine. Or even if he could pander and do a half decent job at it at least I could respect his political savvy. But whats galling is the pure hubris of the man who clearly thinks we are all too dumb to notice how insincere he is.

Ah well. He's the GOPs sacrificial lamb.

A recent Washington Post/ABC News poll showed that 56 percent of respondents said they had a favorable picture of Obama, while only 35 percent said the same of Romney.

You're stewed, buttwad.

Diogenes: Ridiculous as that statement is, it's evidence of a bigger problem his campaign has in regard to strategy.

Humanizing/commonizing the man isn't working. So stop. Stop trying to convince us of that which defies our eyes, ears, and common sense. Be comfortable with who you are and others will, too. And leave it at that. I don't need you to be my buddy in order to give you my vote.

It's when they try to paint him otherwise that he seems the most wooden, humorless, and elite. Otherwise I don't pay much attention to it. And contrast between his personality with Obama's is just to extreme to overcome.

Trying way too hard to be my friend causes me to retreat in the other direction. Trying harder once you've failed makes me run faster.

It's Al Gore all over again. When Mitt comes out one day in earth tones and a beard, you'll know it's over.

James!: Perhaps individual members of the public could try to raise the discourse instead of wallowing in the hate and calling a woman a "twat" just because she supports a different candidate.

i'm fine with thinking she's a twat because i think she's a twat.

frig the discourse, we're on a site born of a squirrel with big nuts and named after the F word.

I think Romney has a chance, a real chance at winning the White House. I think he should take every penny he has and put it into this run. Double down, Mitt, show us you mean it, bet the house and the farm, mortgage everything.

I am sincerely looking forward to the day when a bedraggled, drug-addled Mitt Romney begs me for spare change on a Harvard Squre street corner. That would be sweet.

What a glorious fantasy. I can't decide what would be better - just handing him a pair of bootstraps and walking away or showing him the kindness he doesn't show others and tossing him a couple of dollars which he will soon realize won't get him far at all.

/watching him wait in line with the commoners at the DHS would be the icing on the let them eat cake

Make sure you bet in a casino in a deep red state. Remember, the lines and odds aren't set by what is actually going to happen. They are set to get an equal number of units wagered on each side of the line.

Mitt was born in 1947 and when asked what he finds funny he states
Link "I used to watch Laurel & Hardy, 'The Three Stooges' even the Keystone Cops," said Romney. Real wild side there Ann.

Laurel & Hardy last feature film 1945.
Keystone Cops the movies were produced by Mack Sennett for his Keystone Film Company between 1912 and 1917
Stooges rule.

Now what is sadder that he lived such a sheltered life that he missed so much of the popular culture during his lifetime. SNL, Lenny Bruce, Carlin, Laugh in, Monty Python, Steve Martin, add your own favorite here. That he doesn't like anything newer than the examples in his quote, or that he can't admit to liking anything more modern because it may alienate the old people in the party.
Or it could be a Mormon thing I guess.

How could we forget this knee slapper?

thepoliticalcarnival.net

"One of most humorous I think relates to my father. You may remember my father, George Romney, was president of an automobile company called American Motors ... They had a factory in Michigan, and they had a factory in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and another one in Milwaukee, Wisconsin," said Romney. "And as the president of the company he decided to close the factory in Michigan and move all the production to Wisconsin. Now later he decided to run for governor of Michigan and so you can imagine that having closed the factory and moved all the production to Wisconsin was a very sensitive issue to him, for his campaign."

"So every time they would start playing 'On, Wisconsin, On, Wisconsin,' my dad's political people would jump up and down and try to get them to stop, because they didn't want people in Michigan to be reminded that my dad had moved production to Wisconsin," said Romney, laughing.

Man laying off workers is SO FUNNY!!!!

Hey, I was born in 1980 and I loved watching Little Rascals, Green Acres, and Petticoat Junction when I was about 10-12.

Of course, our satellite dish motor burnt out that year and got stuck on satellite F3 which only had two always on descrambled channels, MTV2 and the TV-Land channel, so that's about all that was on, besides the bursts of Rescue Rangers where I would watch the entire five days of episodes in one sitting.

End CSB.

Of course, I didn't stop watching TV or movies as it appears Mitt did just so he can score some points with the nearly dead voter block.
