Good game, but I can't imagine Philly will fail to show up for two games straight. Cant blame Bryz.

Two things:

1. The Devils have still never been swept in the playoffs.

2. Game 4 will be played on Brodeur's 40th birthday, and he won't have to face elimination on that day.

As I freely admitted. I presume you missed my comments at the beginning of the series.

Your butthurtt is showing.

No reason to be butthurt. Flyers lost tonight to a team who committed to pllaying good clean hockey. They did not turn into the dirty pieces of shiat from a shiatty city who thinks adding french fries to a sandwich is high cuisine. Oh well. fark Pittsburgh. They lost to a superior team and have ZERO bragging rights this year.

Hmm, if Brodeur wants to set "oldest goalie" record, he's gotta play two more seasons. Roloson had a playoff shutout last year at age 41.5.

Well, that was a fun game to follow on the Fark thread. Someone apparently got the memo that giving Bryz a shutout would prove the Mayans right, and then . . .

Was just going to say that, ha.

Hey, my Boobies in a Fark hockey thread.

Larsson's been a healthy scratch for quite a few weeks, no? Last I heard it was "lack of aggression." Looked okay to me tonight...goal didn't hurt my perception though.

No, wait, according to wiki they were sept in two games by the flyers in 1978. So they have been swept before, when they made the playoffs 21 games under .500

yep.

you get used to that on fark from Pens fans. they stick around simply to rip on Philly or Washington.

not realizing that a lot of Philly and Washington fans go "ehh.. my teams can suck whatever it's what they do"

blind homerism abounds from the persistent Pen farkers.

the "good" Penn farkers (geom, mikaloyd) show up a little more as time goes on but i miss them.

Yeah, there have been some hilariously bad playoff formats in the NHL's distant history. Twelve of seventeen teams qualifying, for instance.

I huess the Blackhawks were ahead of them that year in the Smythe Division at exactly .500. Yeesh. But still, franchise records count. If Phoenix has to put up with Winnipeg's shiatty records, and Colorado with Quebec's than NJ has to deal with it too. The price of relocation I suppose.

Fair enough. Restatement, then: "The Devils have never been the victims of a four-game sweep."

/for all the shiat people give the NHL about so many teams making playoffs, it's a smaller percentage now than it's ever been

Nothing to see here just prolonging my streak. I missed two or three threads last year and dammit I'm hitting them all this year.

Where the hell was the Philly offense tonight??

vegaswench: Nothing to see here just prolonging my streak. I missed two or three threads last year and dammit I'm hitting them all this year.

they didn't know math and thought the game ends after 1 period.

deserved that loss. had a dream they replaced the hockey goals with soccer-sized goals and Bryz wouldn't even move. so the other teams would just skate to the far right side of the goal and tap in the puck.

I want PHL to advance for two reasons, both having to do with just always liking them:

1) PHL vs Winner of WAS/NYR will be fun (PHL/NYR would be my pick for awesome)
2) NJD vs winner of WAS/NYR.... NJD doesn't excite me at all except Brodeur.

And I lived in NJ in my life and definitely was a Hasek fan (having a slinky for a spine: priceless).... but this squad right now, sans Brodeur, really fails to excite me. Parise is good but.... i dunno.

so yeah, as someone who wants some exciting Eastern Hockey before the West takes the Cup this year, I'm rooting for Philly.

Still think STL/NYR isn't far-fetched... though STL could be playing a good choke of a 2nd round.

So, in conclusion: Philly deserved that loss and deserved their asses handed to them in the third when they decided to stop playing hockey at the 20 minute mark. None of their big skaters even showed up after that... No Briere, no Giroux... it was like the coach said "just hold the 1-0, we got this" and they all went "BRILLIANT!"

Great win last night Devils!! Keep that sort of play up, and this series will be over very soon. Great pressure all night, didn't give up when Bryz looked off his head.
