Just about every winter here that has a pretty good snowfall, someone gets killed sledding while being towed behind a car. Gotta love Darwin.

I want to read a statement from the kid--safe or not, that was probably a lot of fun.

Fun as hell? Oh, you bet!

Did they do a sobriety check on the little girl?

If she was drunk, too, this would have been the Farkiest story ever!

Used to do that as a kid. No one got killed. People tumbled off of the sled if you take a turn over 10mph, but otherwise, no one hurt.

Time has not been kind to those grandparents, but that's still no reason to take it out on the child.

That looks like an awful lot of fun. We just used Tonka trucks, you know the old ones that were made of metal and rubber and could actually be used outside in the dirt, not those crappy plastic things they make now. I remember how pissed my mother was when she found out what we were doing, not because it was dangerous (it was) but because we were wearing out our shoes by using them as brakes at the bottom of the hill.

Ahh we used to do that back in the day. I had one friend who some how lost the sled and ended up being dragged on his stomach and ended up hitting a manhole cover and losing his nipples. He could never explain why he didn't let go of the rope after he lost the sled.

Yeah, I'm sure that he had NO IDEA that his parents were drunks when he started using them for a free daycare.

Did he ever check under the cushions on the couch? Because I know that every time I lost something as a kid, it always ended up...wait, what? Oh my.

Found this quote from an article on another news site:

"When the child's father, Justin Oetting, arrived at the scene, he became very upset at his mother, a deputy noted. He asked Belinda Berloni, "Are you farking stupid you should know better." The girl was placed in Oetting's custody.".

Choked when I saw the line. Can't find it now so I assume somebody got in touch with the news editors....

Was alot more WTF? until I read that they were going 5-10 MPH. Thats about as fast as riding a bike casually. Even if she HAD fallen out.

This was still dangerous on public streets but if they'd have been doing it in a field somewhere I'd say leave them alone.

In the winter, we used to go "hookybobbing" which involved hanging onto the tailgate of a truck and sliding down an icy dirt road in slick-soled shoes, drinking and laughing uproariously at other's faceplants.

We had a mountain right behind our house with a fire road (more of a cat trail than a road) that went straight up to the top. In the winter, it was our inner tube run, (sleds are for sissies, cause you can steer) and our bigwheel run in the summer. The kid in the pic is riding it wrong, you remove the seat back and you stand up, because you can go faster. I never owned a bigwheel, but none of the neighborhood kid's bigwheels were safe from borrowing. It might not come back in the same condition it got borrowed in, but hey, they shouldn't have left it in the yard if it wasn't public property.

/I bet the kid was having a ball
//cops ruin everything
