Lunaville: stpauler: I lived in North Carolina for a long summer 20 years ago. I met gay people who were vocal supporters of Jesse Helms. The whole state is full to the brim of retards. (Except Winston-Durham area, the state's only redeeming spot since Fat City in Charlotte closed down).

I must say the folks around Celo seem genuinely decent.

RTP_Sith: Seems staged, it was probably placed there by one of his friends. If it was on his property or in the right-of-way adjacent to his property, he has the right to remove it per NC law. And depending on his county of residence and proximity to other dwellings, it could have been legal for him to discharge his firearm.

I have had two signs stolen, obviously by someone against this amendment. If figures, they have been spewing lies about the amendment since it was announced.

Everyone has the right to a belief and to vote their beliefs. It seems the left must also stoop to lying and stealing because they fear their argument about same-sex marriage is invalid. God ordained marriage as a man and a woman. If you deny God, He will deny you. An eternity is a long time to be wrong. God loves everyone. Repent and seek Him.

I am curious: does your evident mental retardation produce physical discomfort, or do you instead experience a continuous sensation of euphoria as a result of your diminished intellectual ability?

My first experience with Winston-Salem was indicitive of the rest of my time there. I had just driven in from Illinois, and after that long drive I needed some gas. I stopped at a gas station, got around 35$ of gas, walked in, slapped two 20's on the counter and waited.

The attendant looked at me and quite distinctly said, "ooba-abba-dweedle-edel?".

I thought about that for a second, decided I was just too tired, and asked him to repeat himself. This time he said it slow, like you would to a dog:
"Oooooooba. Abba. Dwwwweeeeba-dee?"

My girlfriend realized that he was asking if it was "out of forty."

I got to live in this bastion of culture and triumph of inbreeding over intelligence for over a year - and I commuted to Greensboro for work 5 days a week.

I suppose if you really liked to smoke (there were testable amounts of tabbacco in the air and water supply), or just couldn't get enough crack (that's 'pork cracklins', a.k.a. pork rinds), perhaps you really are ready for a North Carolina lifestyle.

Hated that whole miserable state. If it wasn't for the nearby mountains and accessable scenery, it would beat out Milpitas, CA (& all of the valley, really) as the most wretched place in the USA.

Wow, you have really missed out on a significant portion of Illinois if you think NC has the market on bad gas station attendants cornered.

Our extremely rednecky neighbors placed one of these signs just inches away from the property line at the end of our driveway. My dad parked our RV right beside it, just to block the sign. Angry hilarity hath ensued.

Speaking of Jesse Helms, I met the man once at a political cocktail party. I was there with the now ex-wife and up walks Senator Helms. This next - I chit you not - is what happened.

I stick out my hand and say, "Very nice to meet you Senator". He glances at me but not so much as a word, much less a handshake. He looks at my wife next to me and he says, "This is your husband?". "Yes", she says. He then says, "You sure married down didn't you", and walked away. Nothing that would even let me think maybe it was a joke.

Worst... It was back when I was still a republican and I was volunteering at that year's state convention, which is why I was at that party.
