I'm already working on that myself. Of course, I'm not wealthy and don't know anyone who is, so raising funds has been less than successful.

Elzar: hasn't Colbert already been doing this for months now?

I see this as a little different. Colbert wanted to show the absurdity of it all. He's not really engaging in a sustained campaign to elect people who want to change the law.

I've been doing the same. I think it really hurts my fundraising when I tell people that I plan on using the money on a couple ounces of blow and a weekend in Vegas.

It's childish really, how they won't give me money just because I plan on wasting it. As if that's not what all the other super PACs are doing. I guess people just like being lied to.

Serious Black: Good idea, but good luck with shaming those billionaires. They all had plastic surgery to remove their shame glands a long time ago.

Wait, if the shame gland is plastic tissue, doesn't that mean it's superficial and somewhat expendable in the first place?

Nadie_AZ:Didn't Windows 3.1 gimp PC DOS if it was installed on it?

To be fair, "virus" means it's self-propagating and implies that it's unwelcome on the part of the user. I've yet to have the Microsoft corporation forcibly install 500$-1000$ of enterprise software on my machine and then make it do the same for all my neighbor's computer, and I'm not sure I'd really call it malicious if they did.

Also it depended on the PC, if you had a decent machine DOS worked just fine so long as you didn't try to also run windows at the same time. Our family computer actually didn't even boot windows until you told DOS to start it up when I was a kid, I always kinda figured that was the default setting.

This actually sounds like they're going to try shaming donors instead of PACs. Like a PAC dedicated to the sort of advertiser boycotts that hurt Rush so bad about the Fluke thing, just backed up with actual PAC money instead of internet white knights.

Since these PACs are all pulling corporate contributions, they're going to figure out which corporations are supporting which PACs, then advertise against them, I guess? Sounds like that's what the one guy did with Target and the Minnesota gubernatorial candidate, anyway. It sounds like this sort of thing would work, especially if they're non-partisan about it, if their goal is to actually get all most at least part of the money out of politics.

I think a few modern worms will do the same thing--if a worm written by a particular Russian gang detects a worm that was developed by a rival gang, it might attempt to uninstall the other worm. In effect, your computer becomes disputed turf in a gang war.

Actually a lot of the zombie software does that now. It will essentially try to defend your machine from being zombied by a competing brand, so to speak.

So if I like the idea of Super PACs, but I really don't like Colbert's or Ilyse Hogue's "anti" Super PACs, could I make a Super PAC to go against the Super PACs that are against Super PACs?
