TonnageVT: 689908: It obviously goes without saying that I hope Newcastle win on Sunday, but aside from all that, I hope they make the Champions League. They're a credit to the league when so many teams around them (and not) have had embarrassing seasons.

I pity the fool who has to choose between Crouch and Cisse for Goal of the Season.

Agreed, when you look at a club that came up from Championship just a year earlier, and now vying for Champions League football, they really have been a great club. Alan Pardew has done a fantastic job with them.

To think: The Toon Army wanted him and Ashley out on their ear. Now they could be playing Champions League football next season (bar Chelsea winning it). They've only spent a fraction of the money that Sheppard and the old board used to.

Rwa2play: TheKnownUniverse: Cisse's goal, which the FA will remove post haste in line with their policy of being total fartknockers.

*stunned*

As we supporters say about Arsenal: You can't buy class!

And THAT was world-class.

Man, if there's a level above world class, that goal was it. One of the best goals I have ever seen.

Zombie Hitler: You know what. If we lose Cisse, I'm going to be absolutely farking devastated.

IIRC no player can move to more than two clubs in a calendar year. So Cisse's a Newcastle player through 2012.

If he keeps scoring goals at that pace however, except some of the bigger clubs to be knocking on their door in January.

My only regret is that Arsenal didn't put in a bid for him. Could only imagine what a lineup that would've been with him and RvP scoring goals at will.

OMFG no wonder the guy on Talksport started screaming. That goal is just..wow...just...farking...phenomenal.

The only goal that could match that would probably the one Seedorf(?) scored from just above the mid-field line for Real many years ago.

I don't think I could pull of that type of goal at Legendary mode on FIFA 12, and I could score goals in bunches even in Legendary mode.

Pulled from the BBC commentary:

Infostrada Sports on Twitter: "NUFC last won a league match at Chelsea on Nov 22, 1986 - same day Mike Tyson became Heavyweight Champion for 1st time. Tyne Mike."

The commentary is worth reading for the Cisse goal reactions alone.

Also from the BBC commentary:

via text: "Got to feel sorry for Modric, most full weekends that would be the best goal. Only two games tonight and he came third!"

Apparently a sarcastic clap when he was being substituted. Not sure what the backstory is, but on its face, the coach overreacted. Either way, he won't be on that bench much longer.

Yeah I saw the clapping... was it really just for that though? Damn.

Yeah, being bottom of the farking table when they should be top 5 and in Europe every year

Woooo, way to go Spurs. Though the best moment was Muamba making an appearance.

Cisse's second goal....wow.....

Also, I happily learned that USMNT are playing Jamaica Sept 11th at Crew Stadium. Woo, a match close to me!

/saw them in Detroit last year too

desertgeek: Meanwhile, in Spain; guess who's scored a hat trick for Barcalona.

In doing so, he broke Gerd Muller's record for most goals scored in a season. At age 24.

What a talent.

Meh, couple of boring games. Not a single exciting moment or goal of the year candidates. Typical soccer.

Run of the mill Cisse performance. Nothing worth looking up.

15 clean sheets.

Still a real challenge to get into the CL. Been a far-above-expectation season, so I won't mind too much if it doesn't happen.

Tim Krul (and Collocini) have been unreal this season. Hard to believe I was LISTENING to games on my computer two years ago because I couldn't even get a decent stream when they were in the championship. It was also awesome to see Cisse's goal #1 on Sports Center's top ten plays and to have people walk up to me while I was in my jersey today and comment about the goal. Pretty crazy.

Demba Ba + 15 mil for Carroll?

Cisse and Ben Arfa are on long term contracts and most of the teams who need/can afford them are already fine in that department if not stacked. Cabaye I can see maybe leaving. Buy of 2011.

The City and Everton games should make for decent viewing.
