Poor bird, minding its own business and suddenly is getting hit by balls.

It's like an accidental Kim Kardashian.

What's the ruling on this? Interference? A fowl ball?

It should be a "no pitch." I believe that was the call when Johnson did it, too.

It did, but only on a technicality.. I seem to remember coverage at the time mentioning that it was still alive when it hit the ground, but obviously severely injured. Someone wrung its neck to put it out of its misery.

...if I remember correctly.

There used to be a roadrunner on the course at New Mexico State missing a leg it lost from a golf ball strike.

I can't find the video, and maybe that was the problem the writer from TFA had when trying to find out. But it's actually kinda funny. The guy on the grounds crew goes out and picks it up by the tail to dispose of it, and then the bird sort of snaps out of it and flies away.

oh well, you can all think I am delusional or lying, seeing as I can't find the proof. I am beginning to doubt myself except for the whole, "what other dead bird incident would I be confusing this with?" thing.

Still waiting on this. That explosion of feathers made me think the bird had none left.

Or i'm a moran who needs to get a brain instead of glancing over the last post. I don't have a reason Not to believe you mohron, but at the same time an article would be awesome because most of us just assumed the bird was dead and never thought twice about it.

Kinda got me thinking now: did someone pitch a perfect game in that MLB 2K12 game yet? If they haven't, does this mean that the $1m goes to Philip Humber? In any case, they should make a new commercial sometime soon.

Apparently, what they're going is they're taking all the perfect games submitted to them this month, figuring out the eight best based on number of strikeouts and quality of opponent and things like that, and then those eight go to the Fan Cave for a tournament, and the winner gets the money.

I don't think an article will exist. I remember assuming dead bird but they showed it flapping away on sports center top 10 or something. My google fu is not working too well, but I am on mobile right now, so that could be part of the problem.

Everything I find says it died. Here's the ABC News article about it.

Verlander tweeted about it lamenting that Humber can go in and he still can't.

Yeah, kinda. But at the same time it was cool because he was there for years.

Actually, it's the ump's discretion what to do. It falls under a "we didn't think of that" rule.
