slayer199: I have to wonder what happened to this dude. He was one of the top actors in Hollywood for a long time (20+ years). Was he always crazy and he just hid it? He was married to his first wife for 26 years so he was relatively stable by all appearances. Was it alcoholism? Was it old age and him being ridiculously wealthy to the point of not giving a fark what people thought? Now he's just a sad punchline in addition to being a racist, misogynistic a-hole.

It's a closely held Hollywood secret that , for example, Braveheart was uspposed to be the start fo another Buddy-cop franchise, but then Mel showed up on the set looking like this:

Pressed to have SOMETHING to show the Studio execs, one of the AD's got the bright idea to just keep the camera rolling whenever Mel started going off on one of his rants. They then pieced a movie together around him and the Scottish war epic we have now is the result.

He's always been crazy. You notice how his ex-wife has never said a word about their marriage, made one short statement about how he was a good husband and then faded right away? She signed on the dotted line, and she did what she was told to do. She got many millions out from their divorce.

What kind of amazes me, in the age of the internet, is that no one ever seems to be able to reconcile the fact that extremely dangerous, crazy people can hide it from almost everyone--until something happens that blows them out of water. And yet we still have some cherished fable about how it's just impossible for a psycho to live a normal life, do normal things, and be completely unidentifiable, unless you're the person they're out to get. Real life says the exact opposite. If we could spot them right away, they wouldn't be scary.

We have OJ Simpson, psycho killers who've been married for 30 years and their wives knew nothing (granted, they were probably in denial about a few things), people who are Pillars of the Community, but rape little girls in secret, and yet everyone out there thinks, OH NO. I'd KNOW. If there's a crazy person around me, I'd spot it instantly. They'd never fool me.

And I can still come on here any day of the week and read 900 sad stories about psycho exes. What, you didn't SPOT that? What, you're saying they CHANGED? Yeah, it must be you..... one of those loons would never get past me!!

They're getting past you every single day, because they just aren't interested in terrorizing you.

It's got to be the booze. No one sober in the movie industry would bad mouth the Jews in front of a camera.

But drug and rape a 13 year old and escape the country and you can still get all the work you want.
