What are you talking about, Subby? Amy Winehouse hasn't had a drink for over a year now.

I have to wonder what happened to this dude. He was one of the top actors in Hollywood for a long time (20+ years). Was he always crazy and he just hid it? He was married to his first wife for 26 years so he was relatively stable by all appearances. Was it alcoholism? Was it old age and him being ridiculously wealthy to the point of not giving a fark what people thought? Now he's just a sad punchline in addition to being a racist, misogynistic a-hole.

It's got to be the booze. No one sober in the movie industry would bad mouth the Jews in front of a camera.

But drug and rape a 13 year old and escape the country and you can still get all the work you want.

I'm torn. I'd lay equal money on that he has always had a crazy temper but since he was wealthy and powerful in Hollywood nobody called him on it - but in the age of the internet it's much much harder to hide things like that..... or that he's just gotten nastier and more out of control as he's gotten older. I could see it going either way.

But regardless of how he got there, how he tries to spin it or how his sycophants try and handwave it away... I think it's pretty clear by now he's definitely got some serious issues. I don't care what he says... that last audio tape was not a recording of a psychologically stable person. That was the ravings of a nutjob.

I hope he gets his shiat together soon, but you know what they say.... the first step is admitting you have a problem. And that step is really hard when you have money and publicists enough to insulate you from the rest of society and there are a bunch of white knights who will excuse anything you do because they're blinded by your celebrity status.

It's a closely held Hollywood secret that , for example, Braveheart was uspposed to be the start fo another Buddy-cop franchise, but then Mel showed up on the set looking like this:
www.magicdragon.com and ranting random monologues.
Pressed to have SOMETHING to show the Studio execs, one of the AD's got the bright idea to just keep the camera rolling whenever Mel started going off on one of his rants. They then pieced a movie together around him and the Scottish war epic we have now is the result.

Apocalypto was supposed to be an animated kids movie

He's always been crazy. You notice how his ex-wife has never said a word about their marriage, made one short statement about how he was a good husband and then faded right away? She signed on the dotted line, and she did what she was told to do. She got many millions out from their divorce.

What kind of amazes me, in the age of the internet, is that no one ever seems to be able to reconcile the fact that extremely dangerous, crazy people can hide it from almost everyone--until something happens that blows them out of water. And yet we still have some cherished fable about how it's just impossible for a psycho to live a normal life, do normal things, and be completely unidentifiable, unless you're the person they're out to get. Real life says the exact opposite. If we could spot them right away, they wouldn't be scary.

We have OJ Simpson, psycho killers who've been married for 30 years and their wives knew nothing (granted, they were probably in denial about a few things), people who are Pillars of the Community, but rape little girls in secret, and yet everyone out there thinks, OH NO. I'd KNOW. If there's a crazy person around me, I'd spot it instantly. They'd never fool me.

And I can still come on here any day of the week and read 900 sad stories about psycho exes. What, you didn't SPOT that? What, you're saying they CHANGED? Yeah, it must be you..... one of those loons would never get past me!!

They're getting past you every single day, because they just aren't interested in terrorizing you.

/You'd never spot my psycho ex either.

The Jew meltdown kept him from getting funding from studios, but that didn't matter because he had enough money to finance his own projects and most actors would still work for him. It was his adventures with Sputnik that really killed him in Hollywood. After that whole episode with his Russian extortionist girlfriend no actors wanted to work with him.

She was with him for 26 years...if she stuck around and he was that crazy, what does that say about her judgement? Sorry, not sure if I buy that.

I think it's been a combination of alcohol and getting crazier as he's aged. In other words, he wasn't always crazy...

Quiet, polite, church-goer, coach of the little league, would stop to help someone out of a ditch or to change a tire.......threatened to kill me and our son when I left him.

One of these things is not like the others.

You don't have to buy it, but it was an instant red flag to me when there was that big scandal with the psycho girlfriend, and the ex popped up just long enough to say that he'd always been a good husband to her, and said not a word about the girlfriend or anything else ......even though he was cheating on her and their 7 kids when he knocked up the girlfriend. And nobody had a clue that he was like that either. As far as the world knew, he was a happily married guy with a bunch of kids. And was that before or after his DUI arrest where he was freaking out about the Jews?

And just because maybe she didn't have the best judgment, doesn't mean that he isn't crazy. Maybe she was afraid of him. Maybe she was just glad he was gone. Maybe she managed to arrange her life so that she had little to do with him, and lived her life around the kids. That was what I did.

Apparently I don't have the best judgment in men either. It doesn't mean that my ex isn't a psycho.

I didn't say it wasn't plausible...just that I didn't buy it. I give it 50-50 that you're spot on. We'll never know because she probably took a vow of silence in exchange for big money.

What is apparent is that he's insane now (or that's part of his alcoholism).

The "Golden Age" people were a lot worse than him. The old Hollywood guys were the real scumbags. Rape, murder. But even they knew better than to talk shiat about the Jews. In front of a camera.

Was he planning a remake of the Robert Mitchum film? Or are you referring to the next Mad Max film, which I believe was tentatively titled "Fury Road". A new Mad Max film is in the works, but it will feature Tom Hardy in the titular role.

The only anecdote/csb that I have was a guy I knew in college who worked on some of Mel Gibson's sets. He said he used to play basketball with him and discuss theology and that Mel was the nicest most thoughtful guy you'll ever meet. So maybe he did used to be a nice guy who went crazy later.

I'd have to fathom a guess that all his issues stem from alcoholic abuse... The term bi-polar or manic depressive gets thrown around a bit, and in my limited experience, all those people have substance abuse problems....

If you are going to cite a chemical imbalance in the brain, what better candidate for the source of that imbalance, than drugs?

Without it, you get angry... Gibson admits to drinking regularly since the age of 13, and according to his Wiki page, told Lethal Weapon director, Richard Donner, than he drank 5 pints of beer before each day of shooting...

He has a borderline psych issue that he self-medicates with alcohol rather than admitting to. As is usual in such cases he screws up dosage every now and then .
