Even with a cup, their arena won't sell out.

I dunno. It took a SuperBowl trip for the Cardinals to be accepted.

The desert is a strange place. Certainly no place for ice, but a strange place nonetheless.

This is getting disappointing. Let's bring this home and turn the series around.

Of the several different results that can be produced after two games played in a playoff series, I can honestly say that Phoenix 2, Nashville 0 is not what I would have predicted.

I did not think the NHL would be this blatant about it, but book it done they Yotes are getting the cup this year. Another scripted win, but I guess they are desperate to get the Yotes off the books and into private hands.

The NHL can't find their ass with both hands and a map, they damn sure can't rig an entire Stanley Cup playoff

And if they wanted to, it would be PIttsburgh vs. Vancouver in the final and we all saw how that worked out

As a Devils fan it pains me to say I think it's going to be the Flyers in the east and Coyotes in the west.

Yep. After the 'Yotes busted out my Blackhawks, I was hoping to see them go down faster than a $2 whore against Nashville. Guess that's not gonna happen.

I can still hope for a NY/LA or StL/Philly SCF though.

No team has won the Cup as a 5-8 seed since the Devils in a short year. Only the Blues, Yotes, Preds, and Rangers fit the bill.

Flyers haven't won the Cup since before I was born, and I'd love to see it, but it's not gonna happen with Bryzgalov in net. And we gave him, what, an 8 year deal?

Klivian: No team has won the Cup as a 5-8 seed since the Devils in a short year

This is irrelevant for several reasons, one being the the Flyers were 3rd in points in the conference.

Their seed is not going to stop them from winning the cup.

This. They Flyers are, standings-wise, the second best team in the Eastern Conference. If seed number mattered 5-8 might as well not play then.

New to hockey, but so much this.

I hate watching Phoenix play. Brick wall goalie + ice the puck, then wait for something to happen.

Me neither. I think underestimating the Coyotes has to do with familiarity. Their in a crappy time zone so no one ever sees their games. Plus who would have guessed Smith would have a .943 save percentage at this point?

I'm actually hoping the Coyotes get knocked out so the Canadian media won't overshadow the cup with constant stories about the team moving. They have been obsessed with them moving out of Phoenix since the day after they arrived from Winnipeg.

The Toronto sports media needs something to talk about during the playoffs, lay off them.

Mississagua makes more sense. They are the 6th largest city in Canada, and the city has no debt.

To be fair, the metro area of Phoenix and the 'burb towns has a bigger population than the province of Manitoba, so there's that...

The fun thing is, that Glenndale Arena is usually filled to the brim with visiting Canuckistanis, so they're getting hockey even away from home. You'd think that they'd be glad of that.

I don't think the Rangers are superior in talent to the Flyers. I think there is a match-up issue with styles, but the Rangers haven't exactly been lighting up the lamp against a couple of pretty crappy teams in the playoffs. They'll have to do more than lay 6 players in the slot to beat the Flyers.

I think it will be a really good series should it come.. which I think it is inevitable. I think both teams finish off this round in 5 or 6.

I was unhappy when the NBA got shipped out of the PNW. If it hadn't been for the Supersonics playing the Suns, I wouldn't have known the first thing about Seattle. (I was kind of a dumb kid...)

I went to a ton of games at Jobbing before I moved to Denver a couple of years ago, Gretzky was a great guy but a godawful coach. Plus Mick McGeough screwed him at every turn, that fat bastard alone must have cost the Coyotes three wins a year.

It would be kind of funny if they won the Cup and then moved to Quebec.

Could you imagine being a Quebec fan and having your team win a Cup the first season after they move, and then again the last season before they come back?

Not gonna happen. Not this year. They could have another potential buyer, and they've already sold more season tickets than they did last season. I've been saying for years that all it would take is Phoenix winning. It's not a coincidence that this comes the first year they EVER make the second round of the playoffs.

GAT_00: This is getting disappointing. Let's bring this home and turn the series around.

Not gonna happen there, either. :D

Just like I said after the first round - the Nashville I saw beat Detroit had a hot goalie and nothing else. Their power play has gotten better, but they still aren't generating enough offense. Phoenix isn't making the mistakes Detroit did in their own end, and without that the Predators look lost. I didn't think Phoenix would be looking at a potential sweep right now, but Nashville's not winning four of the next five.

Ah, somebody gets it. 'Yotes fans have suffered enough, I don't wish losing their team on them (even if they do get a Cup as a going-way present). I do wish that on the 'Diques fans . . .

Since my horse is out of the race I'm going for Phoenix. Captain Canada needs a ring, he's the last remaining of the original Jets still with the team.

Markham is currently in the conversation because they approved the construction of an NHL-caliber arena. Don't ask me why they're doing it, beyond petitioning for an NHL team. But as we know with Quebec City, you don't build an arena out of the hopes that you'll get a team eventually.

No argument on any of those points. The one thing Gretzky did do, was get folks to events, but winning did that a lot better...
