Well, if strongest means most powerful, this guy is right up near or at the very top as far as I can tell:

Let's say Jesus Christ didn't exist. Millions upon millions of people were born, have lived, and died knowing about his existence, and sometimes had things happen to them because of. Same thing with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon his name.) Same with Moses. And these millions of people weren't all followers of the specific religion either, i.e. victims of war or persecution.

They are arguably the strongest fictional characters in human history.

William Shakespeare wrote Romeo and Juliet. It's a love story that transcends countries and cultures; everyone can relate to them. As far as I know, it was totally made up. They could be the strongest fictional characters in human history.

What's the context? What's the question?

calbert: Is Goku stronger than Superman? No.

All Goku has to do is get Superman to a solar system w/o a yellow sun. Goku destroys Superman.

The real problem with the question is which incarnation of any character. Hulk has reached a point at times where he's indestructible and capable of destroying anything. But other incarnations are not at that level.

One serious problem in discussions such as is the fact that the fictional characters' capabilities tend to vary wildly over the course of their careers.

Take Superman, for example. In this debate, *which* Superman are we talking about? Movies, TV, Comics, or Animated? Even in the comics, Which Superman? The original, who could maybe lift a tank or a ship? The one from the '70s, who was strong enough to move the entire frickin' planet Earth?

If you're comparing Superman vs. Goku, we really need definite specifications as to exactly what iteration of each character. Else, the discussion quickly devolves into an unprovable flame war.

Similar concerns regarding Doctor Who. The Colin Baker Doctor is a very different animal from Sylvester McCoy, let alone David Tennant.

Questions like this are a lot of fun to play with, but in the final analysis , it usually comes down to 'Whose side is the writer on?"

Does MUGEN account for what happens when one of the characters is vomiting uncontrollably, and another is covered in bees but has laser eyes?

I thought not.

At first I would say the Hulk, because the madder he gets the stronger he gets and he gets pretty damned mad.

Except that Spider-Man can beat him. Spider-Man can beat all of them. Even Batman.

Marvel even had a story arc where Spider-Man sat around a lab for a time trying to figure out how to beat a gamma irradiated creature that was much like the Hulk. After he was done he declared, "I know how to beat him. Permanently." Then went on to say that he could beat any of the heroes/villains because he doesn't think or fight the way they do, and his inteliigence is hidden with his Bugs Bunny like behavior that nobody expects genius level intellect from him, giving him even more of an advantage.

So, yeah, in terms of "beat everybody and kill them if need be" Spider-Man wins.

For raw power though the Hulk has everyone beat.

Thanos with Infinity Gauntlet does not count because of his particular mental weakness. However Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet beat ever other cosmic entity, Didn't beat the tribunal, though because with a a judgement, the Tribunal could render the Infinity Gems broken.

Specifically, in one issue of one comic was Jack Kirby used this way, never before, never since.

Just find it odd that the most pedantic fans tend to be the biggest cherrypickers.

Superman beats Goku due to attrition and that Goku's attacks are non-magical. Dr. Who beats the Green Lanterns, and the Corps, but would probably not be able to take down the Guardians of the Universe.

So, I will suggest: Yellow Box and White Box.

In the Marvel universe, the most powerful earth based hero is Franklin Richards.
In the DC universe, it's probably Deadman.
In Anime who cares? Anime is awful and consistency of a characters power level is worse than any western comic character.

Demonbane. Or, if that is too obscure, Flash.
Flash has defied the concept of "Death" by running faster than it. Demonbane is... well, he takes the concept of God and shiats on it, let us just say that.

He did. Several times. But he has an inherent distrust of "non-rational sciences." Superman's vulnerability to magic is actually his biggest weakness, bigger than kryptonite.

But the real strongest fictional character is Leto II.

Batman has a secret plan to beat every other possible opponent, even his allies. And he's kicked Superman, Green Lantern and the butts of many others whom one would not expect.

hogans: The Shrike.

Except the creature found its match (if not outmatched) in the later-generation assassin versions going after Aenea's head. And even those were capable of being imprisoned by much earlier technology (washername in the molten rock).

There is always some bigger fish in the pond. And even if you're not bigger, you can still pull a Spidey luring Juggernaut into a wet concrete foundation.

Yep, I think I have to go with Q as well.

I gotta say Q and God, but since Q and God are the same fictional bastards by a different name, I'll just call him Q (easier to spell)

The real question is: is any of them strong enough to lift subbette a couple of inches of the floor?

2012-04-29 05:48:26 PM
I would say that Goku would take out Superman, Batman, all Power Rangers (even Tommy), even most Gods based on how powerful he became by the time Dragonball GT ended.

However, that's if we're talking just strength. If we figure in intelligence, then Goku is farked because the Doctor could just whisk him to another universe and leave him there. Goku's as strong as they come, but is as dumb as a brick.

I'd have to go with Q. Snap the fingers, just about any enemy is instantly killed, no actual physical body, and access to weapons that can kill other Qs.
