It wasn't a hard shot and it wasn't deflected. Goalies are screened like that all the time, it's up to them to look around them and get down when the shot is released.

When the shot was released, he was down. By the time it got to him, Van Riemsdyk's butt is on his mask. It's an incredibly hard save to make. It's the responsibility of the defense to make sure that doesn't happen.
