A beer fest in San Francisco? Won't everyone run screaming because they can't find a gluten-free beer made solely by Fair Trade brown people in a repressed Asian government?

Yeah, I'll still stick with the Great Taste of the Midwest.

GQueue: Yeah, I'll still stick with the Great Taste of the Midwest.

Came to say this. I stopped going for the past few years, when they shortened the time of the event and raised prices. We use to know local bar owners that would hook us up with free tickets, but when that hookup dried out we kinda stopped going.

Meh..... Amateur at best..... Everyone knows the Oregon Brewers Fest kicks that wussy Californian brewfest arse.... There is a reason Portland is called BEERVANA!

When you have to have four brew fests a year, then come talk to us junior.....

Also the Oregon Brewers Festival was the only one to have Widmer Bro. Bourbon Bock. Yes a Bock stored in bourbon barrels that was 11.9% alc by vol.......

http://www.oregonbrewfest.com/

Oh and that brewery that brought the sour-beers, please don't come back, your Brewer-fest card has been revoked.... ..... The rams pee was better.....

Come to Vancouver Island for some tasty tasty brews. Phillip's Brewery Hop Circle, Hoperation Tripel Cross, Amnesiac Dopplebock, Vancouver Island Brewery Double Decker IPA, heck even Race Rocks Ale is good.

On a side note, any Fark parties to happen in Minnesota late next month? I'm coming down to conquer the U.S., or at least that state. St. Paul be the city.

I went to one last spring that appeared to have plenty of restrooms, but the way they did the fest opening the crowd rushed in and drank all the same time so everyone had to pee at the same time. The lines were horrible. The ladies got the worst of it.

$65 for all the beer you can drink - in a 3 hour window, standing in this crowd...

to get a "sample" sized beer in one of these glasses.

CitizenTed: A beer fest in San Francisco? Won't everyone run screaming because they can't find a gluten-free beer made solely by Fair Trade brown people in a repressed Asian government?

There's always at least a couple organic, fair-trade brewers, and at least one guy claiming to use hemp in his brewing process at any brewfest. Why should SF be any different?

THE MUG OF SHAME!!!

Yeah... that looks like a PITA to me.

Being the weekend guy at the brewery, I don't get to go out very often to the festivals. I'm down in the mines and giving the Saturday tours. A nice captive audience.

and once you get down to it, I don't much care for crowds nor do I care for obnoxiously drunk people, so Maybe its a good thing.

however, I think I'm going to the BOD (Brewer On Duty) for a festival in Northern Virginia in June.

And if they actually do, its a handful of malted hemp seeds tossed in the mash just for the claim.

thing is, Federal Law doesn't allow them to advertise if you do throw hemp in there. so there isn't much of a point.

This is an awesome beer and cheese festival. So many brews. Goose Island showed up last year with a beer they made special just for that event. No crowds, lots of beers, all the cheese you could eat, and $30.00.

The problem with any good beer festival is that once they become popular, they become a huge tourist trap and a pain in the ass because of the crowds. For as awesome of an experience as Munich was, you wouldn't get me back there for Oktoberfest if the trip was paid for. The best beer fests you'll ever attend are the ones held by smaller towns in Germany. Nothing more that a beer tent, a few carnival rides, some food stands and a band playing traditional German songs.
