So the guy that made their album in 1991 would know what Cobain did in 1994. Excellent article!

I'd be interested to hear any new material, but if it isn't just Cobain on an acoustic guitar solo or the trio of guys playing it probably isn't as good as what I've already heard.

In all seriousness, I'd be very interested to hear what such an album would have sounded like. Wasn't Cobain supposed to meet up with Michael Stipe shortly before he killed himself and work around with some material? Stipe might have been producing it or something. I forget what I saw this on, or read it in, but apparently Cobain was such a fan of Automatic For the People, that he wanted to take Nirvana in a similar type of more mellow and introspective songwriting direction, and you can see a bit of it with how they approached their MTV Unplugged performance.

"Cobain was more concerned with his rocker wife Courtney Love's career"

ugh, getting together with her, talk about career suicide

Vig was always in touch with Cobain and became really good friends with Grohl, so he'd know what was going on.

Yep. If I recall, Cobain had an R.E.M. CD in his player when they found his body.

If there were recordings, Courtney would have released them long ago to pay for a fix, then sold the rights for another one.

Now it's all over his wall and ceiling.

2012-04-29 12:29:27 PM
Doubt there's some lost recordings thing floating around out there. I do remember shortly after Mark Sandman died, a ton of stuff he'd recorded for just whatever that was never released was put out. But Cobain was nowhere as prolific a songwriter as Sandman, nor as talented. Cobain seemed more interested in trying to convince everyone he hadn't sold out than he was in actually making music.

2012-04-29 12:37:00 PM
Do not want. That stuff, if it exists, went unreleased for a reason. Stop suckling off his corpse and find your own gig already.

At the time, Kurt had just turned down a VERY lucrative offer from Lollapalooza, Nirvana was on the brink of breaking up, and Kurt was about to walk away from it all. Courtney's cash cow was going to dry up. To her, he was worth way, way more dead than alive.

It pisses me off that more investigation hasn't been done into the questions Tom Grant raises. It's awfully, awfully troubling that he's raised these questions, and people close to the case have coincidentally turned up dead. I'm not saying she 100% is behind it, but I think it deserves investigation.

===========================================================

There is absolutely no way Love could have pulled something like this off on her own and gotten away with it. That girl is about a dumb as a bag of hammers, and she's always stoned (especially back then). There has to be someone else involved, and poor Courtney doesn't even realize that she's the fall-guy in the plan.

Look at her behavior before and after. She has the capacity to be very shrewd. Hell, she even managed to get people thinking she was respectable for a while after believably playing a freaking drug addled stripper who dies of AIDS. Her problem is that she's also nuts. She can't hold it together for an extended period.

The other thing to remember is that Kurt killing himself was so easy to believe. He was a junkie musician who always seemed depressed. It wouldn't have taken a criminal mastermind to make it seem like a suicide. Add in the build up with him missing after escaping rehab, and Courtney telling people she was worried he'd kill himself and you have it made. The cops were very likely to investigate it as a suicide because that's what they expected it to be.

For the last time, you goddamn idiots, Courtney did not kill Kurt.

She was famous a decade before he even started pursuing her and begging her to marry him. Hole did just fine before Kurt came along, and they had an album out before Nirvana. The album was doing quite well, too. People act as if Hole was just Courtney's work, but they were a competent, talented band with some great performers.

Courtney put up with Kurt's bullshiat, his abuse, his self-abuse, and the hero-worship his fans participated in. So many of his fans NEEDED to see her as the enemy because they were jealous of the woman who he gave his heart to. Remember: He pursued her. She tried to push him away and evade him at first, and he wouldn't take no for an answer, and he finally won her heart.

And that just PISSED OFF the fans. They couldn't bear to think their grunge hero was in love, and not the dejected, angsty, pain-ridden public image they desired.

But he was pain-ridden. He was a junkie who lashed out at everyone. Ask Dave Grohl about that. Kurt was a dick because he was a wastoid with no respect for other people. Courtney was a mess, too, but she was made MORE of a mess by his influence and behavior.

And then the stupid, selfish bastard kills himself, and the first thing his fans do is blame his wife. Nevermind that she was dealing with the lose of a spouse-- even if he was a pain in the ass and they were having problems-- He still deprived his daughter of a father, and in the middle of the shock and mourning of it all, the fans start calling the woman a murderer without a lick of evidence.

And so what happens? A private investigator/writer decides this is his ticket to the money train. He works out a story that supports the conclusion the Kurt fans want (that Courtney did it) and he whips out a book and movie, profiting greatly from the controversy he created/supported. Nevermind that the police investigated this high-profile case and concluded it was a suicide... According to the Kurt fans, a private dick who made a hefty profit selling his theory was the one who knew the "truth".

Nevermind that the private dick had limited access to everything having to do with the case, and he supported it with a lot of hearsay and conjecture, and he directly contradicted the police and the coroner in order to support his lucrative theory... The fans had to hate someone, and they damn well couldn't hate Kurt for being a selfish asshole, so they grabbed the "Courtney did it" theory and wandered around like morons spouting utter bullshiat, when they weren't there, had no first-hand knowledge of the situation, and have nothing but the made-up bullshiat lies of a private dick who made a fortune selling his theory to back up their hatred for Courtney.

Courtney used to be an incredibly clever woman, and she was also very generous and decent when she wasn't totally stoned. Kurt fell in love with her for a reason.

And then Kurt died, the world came down on her (without any evidence, but out of sheer selfish need to blame someone) and she went down fast. She used more and more, she lost her daughter, she fell apart and really started not to give a shiat anymore. She's a wreck now, and I can't help but think the selfish assholes who run around accusing her of murder even though they don't know shiat about Kurt and Courtney are a big part of the reason she's such a mess now.

You jumped on a widow and beat her down. Congratulations, dick-bags. I hope the world does the same to you when your spouse dies.

2012-04-29 08:27:23 PM
ZeroCorpse is on the ball. Forget if you love or hate Courtney, let's assume....whatever you want, the last day of Cobain's life.
During the preceding two weeks, Cobain was frequenting junkie hangouts, shocking people by being really sloppy about shooting up and amounts to shoot up. Dealers would watch him shoot up and kick him out of their apartment, not wanting to explain a dead body to the cops. Cobain already took a massive amount of heroin in Rome and survived. He did the same thing in Seattle but used the gun to make sure he wouldn't.
The last half year of Cobain's life...there are few things more depressing to read about. IF he was just suicidal, he might have been alive today. IF he was just a junkie, he might have been alive today. But he was both. Just.....ugh.

Did you read the book about his life/the case? It addresses what you're talking about. For one, Courtney showed up at his shows/was in the audience.

El Duce (singer from The Mentors) was captured on video (as it eventually appeared in an indie film Kurt&Courtney) stating that Courtney Love offered him $50,000 and he passed a polygraph:

El Duce was found dead by the railroad a week after that was filmed.

Not only did Courtney HIRE Tom Grant (he didn't decide anything was his "money train") but you obviously haven't read the facts. He cant make up things like no fingerprints on the shell casing or the gun. That's not conjecture, that's a fact.

No one is saying Courtney pulled the trigger. However, if Tom Grant were able to take this evidence to a civil trial, there's a high likelihood that he'd win.

Clearly we're dealing with an investigation of the highest quality here.

Obviously some people disagree, hence what I said and then you said: not for you, so let it be. I don't understand why it matters to you so much what everyone else thinks, especially if they don't agree with you.
