(CBC)   Jury finds that cop who beat up a legally blind doctor, from behind and without provocation, is a total prick. Bonus: police internal affairs cleared the cop and recommend the man be charged after defending himself   (cbc.ca) divider line 166

"Legally blind" can include people who can see just fine with strong prescriptions.

Yup. My mother cannot legally drive without her glasses or contacts. I think the cutoff for legally blind is something like 20/200 vision or something.

\20/20, the only one in my immediate family.

Considering the Ontario S.I.U. is basically a "police are always right, nothing to see here citizen" rubber stamp of police shenanigans... I'm impressed as hell that the cop plead guilty.
and not even a little surprised the two that actually recommended charges against the Doc got a pass...

Ok, I looked it up.
Anyone with vision worse than 20/200 that cannot be improved with corrective lenses is considered legally blind.

Keyword is cannot.

I never really had a problem with Johnny law beating on scumbags. It's seems now the truncheon swings indiscriminately and is just a likely to hit a sleeping paraplegic as a drugged up thug. Why do they insist on beating and killing everyday people?

With all the laws passed in the past few decades, virtually everyone has broken at least one law in the past day.
According to the police, anyone who breaks any law is a criminal.

Therefore, if all criminals should be beaten, and everyone is a criminal, everyone should be beaten. QED.

The police are more dangerous than criminals anywhere. What do you expect when you take
a bunch of low IQ (IQ of the avg piggy is no higher than 80) people who probably got their ass kicked on a daily bases both in home and at school and give them a little badge and gun?

Reasons why this and thousands others are why i fully support killing of cops and they should be rewarded for it. Kill a cop and its 100% justified? Should be given a 100k tax free grant taken from the "war on terror" funding. I mean that's all a cop is, they are govt approved and funded terrorists.

in the USA are many PD's outfitted with a plethora of SWAT and military level toys and goodies. this trend will not subside, it will only increase. it is a trickle down from the ruling class that are surrounded by many levels of paid thug muscle. it is a rare day law enforcement has to answer to anyone outside of a blue ribbon panel of their peers. the deck is stacked deep and wide against the citizens. meanwhile we have millions of citizens who happily masturbate over their closets full of firepower that they will never use outside of a shooting range or to kill a wild animal in the woods.
should the day come when americans actually do wake up and get woolly our POTUS will simply kick it up a notch from the post-9/11 blanket paranoia to a state where our lives will be miserable beyond the telling.
i have no idea what is in store for our friends in CA but i wish them the best.

squrt: i have never met a cop that wasnt a coward my own family members included

Huh, now THIS is interesting. In my experience, the only people who defend cops are their family members (mostly because they tend to enjoy the same above-the-law privileges as the cops themselves). To see a family member of a cop who can see past the men-in-uniform-are-automatically-heroes idiocy is impressive. Normally we hear "THEY PUT THEIR LIVES ON THE LINE FOR YOU!" from cop families, a rationalization that is necessary for them to cope with the fact that their family member has SIGNED ON FOR that job, usually for the sole reason of brandishing a weapon and power... After all, who's going to be able to say to their little kid "Daddy's out beating up innocent people because his uniform lets him!"
