If it was a Budweiser beer garden it was more likely the suck that collapsed it, not the blow

Mrtraveler01 HOW CAN YOU NOT HAVE A PLAN FOR A THUNDERSTORM?!?!?!

Like, have Joan Jett give away a Fender Guitar while playing on the 2nd Base for 80's Nite?
Link
'cause that's the best plan for Storm Baseball I ever heard of...

MayoBoy: Mrtraveler01: The thing that upsets me is that you'd think these guys would have an emergency plan in place in case there is severe weather.

It's not like severe thunderstorms during a Cardinal game are a rare occurrence, they happen every season.

HOW CAN YOU NOT HAVE A PLAN FOR A THUNDERSTORM?!?!?!

It's a bar - they're probably lucky to remember the way to work every day.

True.

Can't even imagine the number of lawsuits heading that bar's way though.

Fish in a Barrel: I recorded this out of my garage. I was just about to head out when the hail started.

Thanks for not waving your camera all around and yelling HOLY SHIAT the whole time like 90% of YouTube weather videos.

Also, holy fark.

largedon: That storm did suck. I live in Bridgeton where the tornado went through last year and damaged out house. Now we've got hail damage on the cars. Not sure if it was quite baseball sized but damn close. Biggest hail I've ever experienced.

Getting tired of all the damn freakishly strong thunderstorms. Maybe I'm wrong but it just seems like this stuff is happening more often now.

You're wrong.

Pretty much every year is the "worst year for "x" I've ever seen" no matter where you're at.

cambie: GAT_00: 50 mph? You can't properly anchor a tent for 50 mph winds?

Those tents aren't even freaking anchored. It's ridiculous. They just set them on the street, and hope the weight of the steal tubular frame will keep it down.

I was up the street at the International Taphouse. We saw trees bending over, but had no idea anything this severe was going on nearby.

Also, the 1 dead person died of a heart attack due to the commotion when the tent went flying.

Word on the street is that they just said it was a heart attack for the news. A snapped cable actually slit his throat.

From Yahoo's take on the same story:

"Eddie Roth, director of the St. Louis Department of Public Safety, said winds of about 50 mph shattered aluminum poles that held up the tent, located south of the stadium." I did not know 50mph winds could shatter aluminum.

"My wife had people in the beer cooler - we had the beer cooler loaded with injuries," Randall said. "It was a triage deal." Blood guts and beer...Johnny Cash would be proud.

"Tents are temporary structures," Oswald said. He's the building commissioner.

Holy shiat!

Oh, and the heart attack death makes more sense. I was trying to figure out how a tent could kill someone short of impaling them.

Homicidal in-tent.
