Hey Piers, you know what a pretentious douche-bag is?

LiquidSky: bim1154: It can really offend some people in the UK but in some circles it's almost a term of endearment.

Back in the 70s we use to hang out in a fairly tough bar. My x-sister in law was a waitress there and although very quiet, was fairly formidable if provoked. I was there one evening with a friend who brought a long some friends of his from either Australia or the UK. One of them used a word towards my sister in law that although in one of those countries was acceptable, it damn sure wasn't here in the US. In less than a minute those guys were spitting blood.

Don't leave us hanging ... what was the word?

Everybody knows that bird is the word.

/sorry

Personally, I like to use Edinburgh specialties and call people a "chorin' radge, an a knob we'er than a Weegie's."

Twitter: Effing retarded and absolutely the most counter intuitive design for anything labeled "social media". Why the hell anyone would even use such a piece of crap to communicate anything I have no idea. It makes my head hurt to even look at a "feed". It doesn't even quote the original poster when in reply to anything so that you have to go hunt down the Weeners to know what the god damn context of the reply was. screw that.

/end rant

Hunt them weeners!

Urinal Cake Mix: Silverstaff: teardrop: fireclown: can a UK wanker translate "twat" for me? It seems that Brits toss that term around sort of casually if it means what it does here in the US and A.

It's been toned down somewhat but is basically a nickname for a ladies very private parts. I assume that's what it means in the US of A as well?

It can really offend some people in the UK but in some circles it's almost a term of endearment.

Yeah, means the same thing here, but here it's extremely offensive. Probably one of the most offensive words in American English, along with "coont" as the filter would put it.

People will drop a cluster F-bomb before using those two words.

The profane term for a woman which may also be a term of endearment in some situations in American English is "biatch", which as I understand it has the same literal meaning of female canine on both sides of the Atlantic.

I dunno... as a woman, I'm far more likely to call someone a twat than I am a coont. I certainly don't use the word twat as often as I drop the f bomb, but there's no way in hell the c word ever gets thrown into conversation.

My husband called me a biatch once (in the middle of a fight), and I sure as shiat made sure he'd never make that mistake again. I don't care if he says someone else is acting like one, but don't you dare tell me I am one, or that I'm acting like one.

Geesh, no need to get all bitc...... never mind

I was writing to a woman in Australia a while back, and she used the word "dag," which I had never heard before.

An Australian slang term.
A dag is technically the matted wool on a sheeps tail, but in typical useage throughout Australia, it refers to people who don't have a neat, tidy or cultured appearance. It can also refer to a person who tends to be quite informal.
It is not necessarily a derogatory term in modern useage.

The World's Stupidest Bottom-Burp? Piers

First thing I thought of.

cretinbob: jake_lex: I would also add that Piers Morgan is, in addition to being a wanker, a tosser, a git, a pillock, and generally a barmy arsehole.

Don't forget prat.

Christ. You and your chaps' "proper Queens English". Whatever, wanker.

Thank's to a Kiwi co-worker, I know exactly what a "wanker" is, as well as "silly cow" and "bint".

2012-04-29 01:33:03 AM
So I guess that's the reason Piers Morgan went to the US? He thought nobody would understand his reputation as a colossal wanker.

I find y'all americans insistence that that the word "coont" is just the worse thing ever to be really quite amusing. Your movie industry has helped the whole world say "fark" all the time without thinking about it, but somehow "coont" is still frightfully offensive?

My old drinking crowd were using that one as a term of endearment too.

"It's your round, you coont!"
"Shut you coonting mouth, I'll get them in when I've had a piss you great twat!"

2012-04-29 03:44:34 AM

farkityfarker: As an American and a frequent wanker, I disagree.

I think I'm going to have a quick wank right now, as a matter of fact.

I just wanked like an hour ago, but maybe in a few hours I'll pull a Piers Morgan again.

Hey we use "Numpty" here in Canada too, though it's not that well used.

We all know what "wanker" means, and the battle of Transatlantic Put-Downs is a tie.

At the very least, there is the entire population of the UK. The guy is an utter tosser, and worse he enjoys being an utter tosser. I feel guilty that we have foisted him on you.

Piers Morgan is a "Cringing Rectum"

I was given to understand that Piers is a merchant banker who has issued too many drafts.

Pronounced with an "umpty"?

While we still have the hood up, what exactly is a Plonker? The term gets used in Beerfest (by the english team of course), and I love the sound of it. It's a great general insult and I use it from time to time. What am I calling people?

It's a fairly bening one, plonker, perfectly safe for pretty much all audiences. It probably does actually mean 'penis', but it's the sort of thing that you can get away with in a family sitcom. Note, not an edgy sitcom, a family one.

Gothnet: It's a fairly bening one, plonker

bening = benign

For the uninitiated. It's my dialect. Or something. Stupid fingers...

Isn't it even sillier to call someone a douchebag? It's like calling someone a bar of soap or toothpaste. "Get the fark out of here, you useless bar of soap!" I guess it's offensive because it has to do with lady parts, and lady parts are anathema.

Actually, douching is not only medically useless, its actually harmful to the vagina because it messes up the natural PH balance. Thus, a douche is someone who pretends to be important, but in fact is totally worthless and only serves to irritate you.
