With Romney as the presumptive candidate, this might not be the wisest sort of point to press...

Somacandra: Mr. Steyn openly admits he does not understand what false equivalence is or when it occurs. This is the kind of willful ignorance that keeps people from taking what he has to say seriously. He also believes that President Obama was being boastful of his worldly uppityness when he mentioned the dogmeat, therefore he loves dogmeat and likes to eat it when he can.

I think he knows Obama wasn't being boastful. They're willfully ignorant because they understand that Romney's dog story is revealing of an adult man lacking empathy for a dog whereas Obama's is indicative of a person who was actually exposed to a much broader world of cultures and experiences as a child. There's little more dangerous to contemporary right-wing ideology than people actually understanding the rest of the world.

Wait, someone actually pays Mark Steyn to write this stuff?

So, given the "gender gap," maybe those 86 percent of American women are way cooler with polygamy than Governor Schweitzer thinks. Maybe these liberal chicks really dig it.

The reason women will overwhelmingly reject the GOP this year has nothing to do with polygamy, you Jackhole.

The GOP are completely intellectually barren these days.

All of their ideas come directly from reworking Dem ideas into some bizarro construction that makes no sense.

The vacation meme? Stolen.
Dog meme? Stolen.
War on women? Stolen.
Etc, etc, etc.

They have officially become the Party of "I know you are but what am I".

Why so immature?

Maybe it's because they are all so old on average a lot of them are in their second childhood phase?

/Theory.

You lost miserably with McCain, and nobody running this year could possibly be as good as McCain was. Your prospects for 2016 are even worse. Maybe some time in the 2020s you guys will finally figure it out, but I doubt it.

In the mean time, have fun with your Obama Derangement Syndrome.

A couple of days ago, Obama-campaign top dog David Axelrod threw in the towel on the dog war. "I thought it was a little absurd to talk about what the president had done as a ten-year-old boy," he sniffed to MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell, which is as near as the suddenly sheepish attack dog will ever get to conceding that Barack Obama is the first dog-eating president in the history of the republic. For those coming late to the feud, the Democrats started it, assiduously promoting accounts of a 1983 Romney vacation to Canada in which the family pooch Seamus rode on the roof of the car.

Translation: "WAH! WAH! THEY STARTED IT! BEING FED THINGS BY YOUR PARENTS AS A TEN-YEAR-OLD IS THE SAME THING AS WANTON ANIMAL ENDANGERMENT!"

And then Jim Treacher, the sharp-eyed wag of the Daily Caller, uncovered this passage from Chapter Two of Obama's bestselling but apparently largely unread memoir Dreams from My Father

Translation: "We didn't read his memoirs, and assume nobody else has because nobody rightly cared that a child was fed odd food in foreign countries by their parents."

This hilariously pathetic, hilariously desperate comparison is akin to being caught mutilating a cow to death and then trying to claim it's ok because some Democrat once ate a hamburger. Stupid farking Republicans; and the "they STARTED it" is just icing on the babyish cake.

Presuming that this is true (this is the NRO, so I doubt it,) so what? Is Obama responsible for what his father does?

What a stupid article. So Obama ate dog when he was a kid and his father was a polygmist. Does that automatically make Sarah Palin president or something? Does the Constitution state that a person is ineligible for POTUS if his father has more than one wife?

If this is the best that NRO can get to criticize Obama, then I feel bad for them. I really do. Pathetic.

The equivocation of a young child being fed dog in an Asian country with the intentional actions of an adult in the US towards the family pet is absurd in the extreme. The GOP are shameless.

When I first registered to vote about 25 years ago, I registered as a republican. Small government, low taxes... what's not to like, right? I've never changed my registration, but I'll be damned if I ever vote for any republican again.

FWIW, I voted for Bush the First in '88 (my first presidential election), but voted for Bubba in 92 and 96. In those days I was voting Dem nationally and Republican locally. I voted for dubya in 2000 because I hated Gore for the music label shiat, but that was the last republican I ever voted for. I'll keep myself registered as a Republican because, well, wtf does it matter, but those guys can go to hell.

My sister has no ex-boyfriends. She must be gay too, what with only the one husband of five years and two kids.

IamKaiserSoze!!!: I believe the term 'false equivalence' will come up more than once.

FTFA: Confronted by the revelation that his preferred candidate only swings by the Humane Society for the all-you-can-eat buffet, he huffs that this is "false equivalence." "A six-year-old with no choice in the matter" is not the same as a grown man choosing to place his dog on the roof of his vehicle.

Mr.

I'm not suggesting that President Obama has eaten a human penis, because, if he had, he'd almost certainly have boasted about it to the impressionable NPR ninnies who gobbled up his memoirs. But I am suggesting that Mitt Romney might like to consider it for next year's Inauguration Day.
