I want to have wild, hot, gay sex with Stephen Colbert.

And I'm not even gay.

2012-04-28 01:52:01 PM
ouch.

Colbert just got himself added to the Koch brother's enemies list....

Yeah, like he wasn't there before.

Stuff like this really makes me curious what he or other writers brainstorm and then decides is too much, if this is what gets into the actual show.

well yeah, but my impression is that these guys put notes on who to murder first once they get into power. I think Colbert just made the top 20 list of 'liberals to put into death camps first chance we get'.

If I were him, I'd be offended I wasn't already in the top 10.

After the press corps dinner, he was probably there already.

Ok, reading what Colbert actually said... I can only assume Colbert doesn't have a chair on his show... He just sits on his giant brass balls.

This is what needs to happen in every public appearance that these assholes show up to. Uncensored public humiliation. They don't realize how much people really hate them.

then they'll scream bloody murder about their first amendment rights being violated. which isn't true mind you...but that's what they say.

I am happy to announce Mr. Koch has pledged $5 million to my Super PAC. And the great thing is, thanks to federal election law, there's no way for you to ever know whether that's a joke.

By the way, if David Koch likes his waiter tonight, he will be your next congressman.

Ho. Ly. Cow. That is ridiculously awesome.

President Obama just signed an executive order stating that each of Stephen Colbert's balls must remain on opposite sides of the planet in order to keep the earth from falling off its axis.

It would be fun to watch. I don't want to brag, but I happen to be on the list for the second time. Anybody else? Show of hands? Anybody else, the second time? We are an elite club. One more and we get a free hoagie.

Secretary Clinton was on the list for the seventh time. She had to leave earlier. Still is an honor to have met her. She's a feminist icon, a role model for so many women. Like the one young woman here tonight who bravely stepped into the media spotlight this year, and was immediately labeled a slut. I'm talking, of course, about Chelsea Handler.

Chelsea, you handled that with such poise. The horrible, horrible things that were said about you, tramp, gutter skank, and a lot of those were you talking about yourself. Brava, madam, you're a feminist icon.

Also, Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke is here tonight. Also an instant, instant feminist icon. Famously tested, testified before Congress, that Georgetown, a Catholic institution, should be required to provide insurance coverage for her birth control.

Now, TIME 100 honoree, his eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan disagrees -- sir, lovely to see you again.

Of course, now some, some critics have said in response to this that if the Catholic church's insurance does not cover Sandra Fluke's birth control, it shouldn't cover Cardinal Dolan's Viagra.

Oh, no, no, no. Oh, no, no, no, that's called celibacy plus. That's how the pros do it. Because chastity is one thing, but it shows true commitment to uphold your vows when you are sporting a crook you could hang a miter on. Oh, wow, see you at mass on Sunday, sir?

I hope he doesn't become Pope.

I'm a Catholic, it's okay. I go to confession, it will be fine. Thank you.

...

But perhaps the most influential person on the list is here, Sara Blakely. The inventor of the Spanx. Give it up.

No one, no one has done more to control women's bodies, except maybe Cardinal Dolan.

Cardinal, congratulations, sir, you are a feminist icon.

Colbert is seriously one of the best political minds alive right now. It will be Colbert who is able to reach out to younger voters and get them to notice - and also CARE - about how corrupt our country has become; he will also be the one who shows them you can fight back and shine the light on these shenanigans.

Please tell me there is video of this to watch.

Also, in before the Koch suckers come in to defend their bankroll hero.

"Stewart. Colbert. Maher. These are today's leading truth tellers."

Oh good grief.

I have a serious man-crush on Colbert, and I think all three of these guys (though Bill Maher least) are very effective and important satirists and comentators.

But Today's Leading Truth-Tellers? Not even close. Too often they need to slant and mischaricterize for comedic effect. To often an intentionally biased take is funnier than an objective one, and let's be honest... None of these guys is even pretending to be unbiased.

I think it's great that we have guys like this, and honestly, I Dig Colbert for being very bold and holding no punches even when he's face to face (hello Bush). but these guys are not "truth tellers" by any stretch.

And it makes me a little sad that so many people can't see the difference.

IMPORTANT.

If you've never seen it, go to YouTube and watch Colbert's speech at the 2006 press club dinner. He roasts President Bush mercilessly, in person. It's amazing.

Compared to how dumbed down the rest of the news is, I learn as much from The Daily Show/Colbert Report, that I learn from the actual news.

If the daily show hasn't accomplished this already, I don't know what Colbert will be able to change. That's a knock at apathetic douchenozzles, not Colbert.

If anything, I watch the networks like NBC and CBS, I don't even bother with cable news usually and the times that I do watch CNN, my brain tries to commit suicide over the banality that channel seems to have anymore, and I don't even bother with MSNBC and FOX because I just want the news and not some asshole telling me what I should think about it.

I do learn more from NBC and CBS than I do the Daily Show, but I'd think it's safe to say that I learn as much from the shows on Comedy Central than I do from Cable News.

And just as in medieval days, the court jester is the only one in the room to tell the unvarnished truth by dressing it as comedy.

Consider their competition.

Colbert, Stewart and to a lesser extent Maher present more truth in their li'l half hour programs than most 24 hour News channels/stations do in a daily cycle.

Corporate media frames the narrative within very tightly constrained parameters.

Many news stories are actually just selective leaks designed to propel a given narrative or advertisements in the guise of news and they all have an army of lawyers and editors telling them what they can and can't say.

Today's teevee court jesters are not so restrained and thus are more free to tell the truth than the so-called professionals who's job it is.

Which isn't to say that the American media landscape is a complete desert, of course,. just that the oases are few and far between.

"Little known fact, David's brother Charles Koch is actually even more influential. Charles pledged $40 million to defeat President Obama, David only $20 million. That's kind of cheap, Dave.

Sure, he's all for buying the elections, but when the bill for democracy comes up, Dave's always in the men's room. I'm sorry, I must have left Wisconsin in my other coat.
