Vontaze Burfict gets a chance with Cincinnati. How fitting.

So we're still awaiting word on Chase Minnifield and Chris Polk, both of whom are to our knowledge still unattached...

Nice find! Hats off to you.

Just for fun:

Seahawks 2011 draft grades:

Draft picks: OT James Carpenter (first round), G John Moffitt (third round), LB K.J. Wright (fourth round), WR Kris Durham (fourth round), CB Richard Sherman (fifth round), FS Mark LeGree (fifth round), DB Byron Maxwell (sixth round), DL Lazarius Levingston (seventh round), LB Malcolm Smith (seventh round).

Analysis: No team reached for players as badly as the Seahawks. While they selected a few good players early on, Seattle picked them before many personnel evaluators felt they should have gone off the board.

Mel Kiper Jr: D+ (lowest grade of all teams). Fox Sports: D

Picks 1 and 2 started from Day 1. Both had ACL injuries, can't fault the drafting for that. KJ Wright made Aaron Curry (former No. 4 pick and "A" rating guy) irrelevant halfway into the season. Sherman is one of the best young CBs in the league.

Yeah, totally sucked, dipsh*ts. 4 solid starters or better from your top 5 picks is just terrible.

2009 draft grade: A

"Like their divisional neighbors to the south, the Seahawks were able to wrestle away a future first-round pick (from Denver) and still fulfill their greatest areas of concern. The headlining pick is outside linebacker Aaron Curry, who fills a huge area of need following the trade of Julian Peterson and the draft-weekend decision to take the franchise tag off linebacker Leroy Hill. The addition of the versatile Max Unger and speedy receiver/returner Deon Butler filled Seattle's three biggest needs seamlessly. Don't be surprised if at least one of the club's seventh-round picks (safety Courtney Greene, defensive end/linebacker Nick Reed and tight end Cameron Morrah) makes this club."

Unger is okay. Curry got replaced by a 4th rounder ASAP. Butler is garbage. The rest are either not on the cl ub already or are on their way out.

PLEASE say we reached again.

SON OF A WHORE

He's injured and supposedly his recovery is was going badly. Since he's a Redskin, he will never recover.

I have to say, overall I'm pretty "meh" on the Ravens' draft. They absolutely did address most areas of need, and I'll admit that I'm spoiled because of the personnel department that we have, but I really only see one rookie (Upshaw) who's likely to see significant playing time this season, vs. 4 definite needs (guard, OLB (Upshaw), 3rd WR, 2nd RB). Solid talent, absolutely, but for the most part at least a year away from really being ready for the NFL. With the team still in salary cap trouble & still trying to lock up Rice and Flacco to long-term contracts, that doesn't bode well for us being able to bring in many veteran free agents to fill those holes either.

I guess this means Harbaugh & Co. feel that current roster members are ready to step up (Jah Reid on the o-line, Doss/D. Reed/L. Williams at WR, Allen/Berry at RB), but at the least that leaves on short on depth at those positions + safety. There's still a lot of offseason to go, but this makes me more worried than I have been in other recent years.

The Ravens UFA signings so far:

John Brantley, QB, Florida
Charles Brown, CB, UNC
Austin Johnson, LB, Tennessee
Chyl Quarles, S, Wake Forest
Nick Jean-Baptiste, DT, Baylor
Deonte Thompson, WR, Florida
Nick Provo, TE, Syracuse
Devin Goda, WR, Slippery Rock
Chris Anzevino, C, Kent State

They're not even getting an undrafted RB.

Chris Polk to the Iggles

2012-04-28 09:37:27 PM

Gosling: They're not even getting an undrafted RB.

We did draft Bernard Pierce in the 3rd round, and apparently Harbaugh really likes him based on local press & the fact they traded up to get him, but reading the scouting reports on him he looks like a guy that's going to need a year of coaching before he's even a viable backup. Might be usable this season as a change of pace guy, but among his weaknesses are trouble picking up the blitz & lack of "burst" speed.

Lucas Nix (G, Pitt) tweeted that he's signed with Oakland. If so, that's a nice pickup for them & a guy with a real good shot at making the roster.

Davin Meggett (RB, MD) looks like he's still available, and I'd really like to see the Ravens take a shot on him. Yes, he is that guy's son.

2012-04-28 09:54:29 PM
Just realized that basically the Seahawks picked up two players for losing last year's season finale - the loss moved them up to 12, they traded back to 15, one of the positions for a team with an 8-8 record (which they would've had if they'd won), and picked up those two picks.

The lesson, as always, is to tank.

DE Matt Broha, Louisiana Tech
WR David Douglas, Arizona

FB Joe Martinek, Rutgers
WR Julian Talley, UMass
DL Adewale Ojomo, Miami

Giants have confirmed there are 10 total, so four are still a mystery.

Hope someone got Renard Williams. Dude was supposed to be a mid-round pick after his junior year from an FCS school, came back and had an ankle injury he played through but didn't dominate to that level again this year. He'll be really good.

It looks like he's one of the guys left out in that critical first hour but hopes he'll have something "in the next couple days".

"The next couple days" in undrafted-free-agent terms basically means "I'm going to Canada, if they'll have me." I mean, typically teams only take about 10-15 UFA's a draft, and a lot of teams are either there on that list or close to it just on the stuff announced so far. I'm counting 18 teams that are showing at least 10 UFA's signed. Add in the 9's and 8's and it's 25 teams. If you're not on a team by now, the NFL probably doesn't want you.

Wow! Looking at video of one of the UDFA the Cowboys got, and this guy is a beast. How the hell did Adrian Hamilton not get drafted? Because he went to a small school?

That's not always true. Teams have their lists of guys they want, true, but not all teams get everyone on their lists and not all initial UFAs stick with their first club. It's an uphill struggle definitely, but you'll still see guys catching on up through training camps.

/Really feel for some of the guys on the bubble. It truly sucks to devote your entire life to one thing & come up just short.
//Except the assholes. I'm glad they fail.

2012-04-29 01:36:38 AM

Gosling: Wowzers. Kellen Moore goes undrafted.

Im still amazed people get shocked when players dont get drafted like him, he has a bad throwing motion, it not very mobile, and is short(even shorter than brees), add all that up and nobody cared to draft him.

For players that have size, NFL teams will find a spot for them but if you are short there is not much they can do unless you are freakishly quick.

muck4doo: Because he went to a small school?

Level of talent does mean something, you could put together a youtube video for almost every DIV I player that looked better than the one he had up.

Chargers UDFA list so far (along with what info I could find):

Taylor Embree, WR, UCLA
(decent WR, suspended 1 game for fight against AZ)

Phillip Payne, WR, UNLV
(suspension for criticizing coaches on twitter at UNLV, 4.6 40, athletic and acrobatic catches last season)

Michael Hayes, RB, Houston
(4.58 40...power runner...split his reps)

DeAndre Presley, CB, Appalachian State
(former QB now at corner...not the fastest guy...willing to play multiple positions)

Charles Burton, OL, Montana
(?)

Jason Barnes, WR, South Carolina
(6'4" wideout...bit undersized for that height though at 208...4.5 40)

Jarrett Lee, QB, LSU
(kind of excited about this one as a backup to Rivers...seemed to do well in that role at LSU...

Josh Linam, ILB, UCD
(Could have a shot as a backup...was decent in college)

Paul Cox, WR, Mississippi Valley State
(another tall WR...not the fastest, but 6'4" makes up for that a bit...needs to bulk up though)

Logan Harrell, DT, Fresno State
(In 10/11 he was 4th in the nation in TFL...sounds like he has potential)

Hubert Anyiam, WR, Oklahoma State
(injury issues in the past...could have development potential as a steal, or be a bust)

Eddie Brown, DT, Texas A&M
(All Big 12 honorable mention)

Adonis Thomas, RB, Toledo
(5'9" and underweight...4.46 40...84 yards per game avg...)

Cordell Bell, OT, Minnesota State
(?)

Sean Cattouse, S, California
(4.74 40 is kind of slow for a safety...honorable mention all pac-10...could have big upside)

Greg Gatson, DB, Arkansas
(coming off shoulder surgery...only 5'10 163...)

Mike Harris, OL, UCLA
(predicted as a 7th rounder...has some potential to develop)

Mohamed Marah, FB, San Jose State
(coming back from shoulder surgery...)

Nick Guess, LS, Arizona State
(Is this the guy from Tennessee?)

Christian Tupou, DE, USC
(coming back from knee injury...former winner of USC's co-lifter of the year...USC co-DL of the year...)

Michael Willie, WR, Arizona State
(hard worker...6'2, 222...4.8 40...has nice potential as a UDFA)

Not sure what to make of this list...
