Nogrhi: why would you draft Levar Burton

Well...in SOME cases, he might be able to teach some of the players to read!

I like how people crticize the 49ers draft - yeah, because they had a whole lot of weaknesses. They got a WR, which was a problem, and they got a fast RB for when Gore gets injured, not to mention a good returner, for when Ginn inevitably gets injured.

2012-04-28 11:56:06 AM
i'm really shocked that bobbie massie is still around. i mean a guy that might be able to play left tackle in the 3rd round would have been a steal. and if you have move him to guard or right tackle who cares, it was the 3rd farking round. unless, there are dead hookers and crack habit i'm not aware of he's got to be the first off the board today, right?

The 49ers got a lot of receivers now.

It's far from the worst so far. The Patriots, Broncos, Eagles, and (sorry) Seahawks easily have been less beneficial to their teams.

I see that Miller (according to NFL.com) has a draft grade of 87, but their description of his positives and negatives makes him sound like he should be in the high sixties. He could be a good #2 in a one-two punch if paired with a power back.

Y'know, despite reading a ton of sports writers mock the Jags for their 3rd round punter pick, I'm starting to think it was actually pretty genius.

They have so may needs no one pick would address them, and let's face it, they'll be punting a LOT. Having a top flight punter will probably save them more points this upcoming season than any other single player, and Anger is pretty darn great already.

I don't disagree with this. I think Anger will make more of an impact for the Jaguars over the next five-plus years than anyone else available at that point.

farking pissed off that the Broncos got Ronnie Hillman yesterday...I knew he was a 3rd rounder, but was praying the Chargers (having had the hometown advantage of watching him play for the past 2 seasons) would have stepped up and made it work to get him. Now, there's no running back prospects still available that can do what the Chargers need them to next season. LaMichael James is gone...all the big-names are gone. We'll end up with some turd that can barely make practice squad. Meanwhile we have Fumbles McGee Mathews and no Tolbert. FML

Idk, the Seahawks have been especially beneficial to the chargers in this draft

The 49ers have done fine. The only criticism is that they could have moved down a few spots and picked up a 4th rounder from Minnesota and still got Jenkins instead of taking him in the first round.

I still like Ray-Ray, Ngata, and Ray Rice. The rest of them can pound sand.

/Ed Reed is overrated. Yeah, I said it.

I've always thought a good punter/kicker who might end up on the team for 20+ years is a good investment of a mid round draft pick. If he really has what it takes to be a top 10 punter in the NFL it was a great pick.

SubBass49: Meanwhile we have Fumbles McGee Mathews and no Tolbert. FML

Matthews doesn't fumble that much. By the numbers, he's slightly above average from what I read right after the season in the U-T. I don't know where that meme came from, but it's just not accurate. 1000 rushing yards and 1500 combined yards when you're sharing the backfield isn't bad for a second year running back, and he only had 5 fumbles on 222 runs and 50 catches, and only two of those were lost.

I don't get why people are so negative about him. He's not a Barry Sanders, but he's pretty damn good. I'd say he's become one of the top ten running backs in the league. Having a blocker like Le'Ron McClain should help him a bit. Hester is good, but not great at run blocking.

I agree. They really needed a deep threat and he could be their DeSean Jackson. Now they just need someone who can get him the ball.

Polamalu isn't overrated, he's just getting older. Reed is a centerfielder that isn't asked to do much since the Ravens front 7 is so good. He doesn't bring much to the table aside from his hands.

Nah, they haven't. Seahawks got guys in positions they need. I don't care where Kiper and a bunch of jackwads have guys. They knew the position, they had a lot of guys available, and they chose the guy they wanted.
