Hey, how do you know the baby didn't have a loaded diaper, submitter?

2012-04-28 12:46:39 AM
President TSA, a baby got thru the checkpoint without being screened.
SHUT. DOWN. EVERYTHING.

Babies ARE loaded with piss, vomit, and crap; I call them a biological weapon even if TSA doesn't...

You could easily hide a hand gun in a baby's diaper. Just because it's unlikely, doesn't mean that it should have been ignored. The TSA did their job. If that bothers people so much, don't fly.

2012-04-28 01:46:28 AM
Y'know, I've never flown, and never intend to, so while I laugh at the idiocy of the TSA, I didn't really care one way or another if it existed or not.

This, though. This. When you have to consult someone about evacuation because a baby wasn't inspected for drugs/weapons/god knows what, that alone should be a screaming red flag about the redundancy you've created. Along with all the other things they've done, as well.

the baby did not have a proper boarding pass-ifier

This is the level of fear that pervades the TSA. Any random extremist asshole/nutjob could strap bombs on a baby, and blown up a plane. Therefore, unscreened baby = threat. Nevermind that there are probably other warning signs given off by people who are about to BLOW UP A FARKING BABY.

Can we just agree that "9/11 changed everything" in the worst way? (at least as far as TSA security measures are concerned, anyway)

2012-04-28 01:53:10 AM
Actually I would like to ban babies on airplanes. That or make them take special babies only flights that don't go up as high, take longer to get there, and generally encourage people with children who can't be quiet to drive without actually forcing them to by law.

Then, once it's a social more, we make it law punishable by tying the parents up in a jail cell and forcing them to listen to babies crying loudly for 48 hours while the gentle aroma of shiat and piss wafts under their nostrils.

No, no, no.

Parents can get used to the smell of their own crotch spawn's feces. What they can't get used to is other people's. We keep them stuck in a chair for hours and hours smelling shiat and piss and unable to sleep because it's too loud.

If we are stuck with the TSA then I fully expect them to follow protocol and do as thorough of a job as possible. I would rather that we not have the TSA, but since we are stuck with them then they did the right thing by evacuating the terminal and then screening everyone again.

I can tell a lot of people DNRTFA.

"A TSA official said they had explained the circumstances of the breach to the Port Authority police and recommended against evacuating the terminal since it was a low-risk situation."

The TSA followed protocol. They said it was a low-risk situation. They did not evacuate the terminal. They advised AGAINST it. Can't blame them for this one.

2012-04-28 02:24:53 AM
Not SURE why all the TSA hate on this one... TFA says they recommended AGAINST shutting down and farking up everything, and it was the port authority that pulled the trigger...
Personally, I don't BELIEVE that, but I'm not sure most of the posts are even taking it into account...

Sadly there are only two ways to "defeat" terrorists. One is complete and total genocide. The other is to hope that the terrorist run out of steam and give up.

Meh. Just stick the baby on the conveyor belt x-ray thingy and call it a day.

/was coming in to make a dirty bomb diaper joke but i see it's been covered

If by "a lot" you guys mean the one or two people who actually said anything negative about the TSA in this thread? Most negative comments here are just general biatching about what huge pussies we are now.
Or are you guys just pre-white-knighting the TSA for all the complaints you're expecting to come?

Wow, the TSA is on a roll this week. First a 4-year-old, then a 7-year-old with cerebal palsy, now a farking baby?? Do they actually screen out people with common sense during the interviews?

2012-04-28 02:45:48 AM
OK, let me get this straight.

1. TSA fails to screen a baby
2. once they realise this, 30 minutes later, they look for parents and baby
3. apparently, they cannot find them (perhaps they've boarded and left?)
4. not finding baby, Port Authority makes everyone else evacuate the area
5. having evacuated, all need to be screened again

Seriously?

Find the moron that decided to do that and at least fire his ass, preferably after a severe horse whipping for being such a farking dumb ass.

Nah, the TSA needs to be flushed away - the agency serves no purpose at all. If you're too cowardly to fly without being subjected to the TSA's pervy searches, just stay home and hide under your bed.

2012-04-28 03:11:16 AM
FTFA: but they emphasized that it was a low-risk situation, Farbstein said.

That rationale doesn't hold up. It's a shiatty and deeply flawed protocol that fails to do what it intends to do. Shutting down an entire airport (even if it was the Port Authority and not TSA) for a child is ridiculous. There are many smart ways in which to identify potential terrorists by behavior (when used for drug policy it stopped a lot of false pull overs for drug smuggling) rather than doing random gropings.

Why don't the ultra anti government spending types hate this waste of taxpayer money?

It would be like funding people in every street corner to give a small speech and hi-five the driver, then the next one. Then if you didn't Hi-Five or listen intently, or just tried to drive away, you got fined 11k and the cops were called on you, blocking traffic for 4 neighborhoods. But it would reduce roadrage, because who doesn't feel good after an awesome hi-five? I mean, road rage happens and it's our duty to make sure that drivers are safe and relaxed, when you're behind the wheel, everyone's safety is your responsibility.

Somehow, I suspect they would be angry at that government job creation program. Not sure why this one is defended. But meh.

Sure there is, but the real pussies in the country start screaming "racial profiling" when you do it. Blame them for old ladies and toddlers being screened.
