There is no way any reasonable person would construe his tone or volume level while speaking to be "screaming". Most of the time he is speaking calmly and quietly, and occasionally speaks a bit louder for emphasis -- well within the range of a normal speech.

And he does not ever say "the Bible is bullsh*t", he says certain ideas (in Leviticus particularly) are bullsh*t, and points out biblical support for slavery as a moral question the Bible got wrong.

It WAS a seminar where others *wanted* to learn about acceptance and whatnot. These high school kids showed up, invited, and voluntarily. And then they walked out snickering and smug. My personal theory is that they planned this all along. Notice how they left en masse.

Well the issue there is that there isn't any part of the New Testament that directly throws out what was said in the Old Testament about homosexuals. Of course one would logically dismiss the stonings and apply "love thy neighbor" and other such scriptures to them if they weren't being led by bigotry instead of Christ's teachings.

My problem with what this guy did was that he just reinforced that bigotry in the minds of those kids. He had an opportunity to reach them and not only wasted it but probably made things worse for the gay kids that share schools with those students.

Calling it BS is not the same as pointing out why it isn't applicable to life today. Cooking Kosher keeps food safe. Should we all cook Kosher? No, but that doesn't mean Kosher is BS.

That question is far too complicated for me to tackle with a full answer atm but I'll attempt a short answer. The New Testament replaces the law with grace but the law is still a foundation for faith. However there are some laws that were directly thrown out, such as the one about shellfish and other forbidden foods, in the New Testament.

The laws about homosexuals weren't thrown out directly just as the laws about slaves weren't. However, if we apply the teachings of Christ to any situation, we won't be bigots. We may strongly disagree on some issues but it won't be from hate or spite which makes it much easier to agree to disagree.

In my own personal experience, they typically are. Those that I encountered as a teen would claim you were persecuting them by even questioning the bible, let alone telling them you don't believe so their scripture quoting was pointless.

Yes, I just read that. It's still bull. 'We want to eat what we want, so jesus said that's ok, but gays are still icky so those verses are still in effect.' It is ridiculous to pick and choose like that, but hey, whatever fits their world view.

Very true but Acts 10 (Peter's vision), Romans 14, and Timothy 4 all teach that all foods are now acceptable through God's grace. So the law is still in effect. The foods are still unclean but God's grace makes them clean for us to eat. One of the main reasons we ask God to bless our food before eating it.
