If Dan Savage said it then it's okay by me. He's well past needing to provide cred.

They deserve to be mocked.

I would like to see this story come from some other source than Fox.

"The first thing he told the audience was, 'I hope you're all using birth control,'" she told CitizenLink. "he said there are people using the Bible as an excuse for gay bullying, because it says in Leviticus and Romans that being gay is wrong. Right after that, he said we can ignore all the (expletive deleted) in the Bible."

I'm sure a video will come out shortly to prove your butt hurt point, right?

What? You mean when roles are reversed the bullied become bullies themselves? Color me shocked.

No offense, but you may just be taken a bit more seriously if you were to act professional in an environment such as that. You are supposed to point out the flaws in the other group, not give them fodder to fight against you.

South Park did it.

Yes, Subby, the Christian Teens did fail.

But, hopefully, they'll hit college, forget their brainwashing and their cult, and become fine, upstanding citizens who care more about a person's character than who they fark and what a book of fairy tales tells them they should think about that.

No offense, but the gay community has taken about as much as they can, and having tried civil tones before, some people just snap at the stupid. That's what happened according to this article (I woild like to see another source, as a 'culture wars' 'reporter' from fox news smacks of bias, but...). Sometimes, even the most professional of people can have enough of it, and say 'fark it, enough is enough'. When he's pointed out their mistakes thousands of times, I don't care if he did snap, he's handled the right-wing fundie's crap better than most people would.

To be fair, Christian teenagers are some of the worst, most pathetic creatures humanity has to offer. Probably shouldn't call them names at the anti-bullying rally though.

I was raised to be a christian teen - dad was a preacher. And the little pricks I was around all the time WERE pathetic. But then I chopped my dick off and became a lesbian, so there is hope for some of these kids.

They are gonna use what happened there as propaganda for their holy war of morality. They will twist it and spin it to fit their own agenda. I know it is difficult dealing with Christians, but you have to maintain a cool head when you are a leader in your cause.

If you want to win christians over to your cause, you cannot do it in this way. All you are doing is driving a further wedge between your two communities. Be the adult on this one and leave the childish things to the Christians

I can see that, and understand that... however, the people who are going to use it against us don't need any reason that we give them to attack us. These christians that will do that already equate us with dog-farkers and kiddie-diddlers. They already use the most vile, demeaning lies and words against the gay community. If he was going out every day screaming these things at christians, I would agree it was counter productive. But someone finally giving in and saying what he supposedly said isn't going to harm us in the long run. They already have a persecution complex, and this won't add much weight to what they think is already there. These people are afraid of the gay mafia, the homosexual agenda, you name it. If it drives the wedge further between gays (not even gays, but him) and the fundies, so be it. They already scream and spit and beat and kill people for who they love, maybe it's time they're called out on being nutbags. That's not to say all christians are like that, I respect christians who follow their lord's teachings, but these aren't those types of christians he's alienating. It's the literal bible believing, holy rollers who would never change their mind in the face of all evidence to the contrary.

Agreed. If you want things to get better, you have to take the high road. Every time.

"They're ass holes all the time, so it's ok if we're assholes once in a while". Except it's not. Every time you're an ass hole you lose ground.

The people waging this "holy war of morality" will use anything done by gay people and their supporters - including civil petitions for equality and fairness - as propaganda twisted to fit their own agenda. Indeed, as the Prop 8 campaigns showed, they're not above making things up entirely to use as ammunition for this war. That's why muting your own message and feelings in an attempt to be inclusive is, beyond a certain point, a wasted endeavour. There are some people that frankly just aren't worth the effort.
