Ravens so far:

Courtney Upshaw - LB (35) Love, love, love this pick. Reading the scouting reports on him immediately brings to mind Terrell Suggs, another guy pegged as an outside rush specialist who played DE in college but will move to OLB in the pros. Like the pick even more as Baltimore traded down from 29 and still got Upshaw (who I have to think was their pick at #29), gaining a 4th round pick in the process. Either way, they got a guy who was projected as first round talent in the second, always a nice thing.

Kelechi Osemele - T (60) It looks like some scouts are projecting him as a guard rather than tackle, which fits the Ravens' immediate needs. Problem being that most of what I read pegs him as a project player with tons of upside, and not as an immediate starter. Also found it ironic that SI's scouting report compared him to Michael Oher. I'd have liked this pick a lot more if we still had Grubbs or had signed another veteran guard.

Bernard Pierce - RB (84) As a Ravens fan you learn to trust Ozzie Newsome, but this pick baffles me. This is a guy who wasn't on my radar at all and, based on what I've read about him since the pick, doesn't seem to fit Baltimore's needs. A history of injury problems, apparently lacking top-line speed at the NFL level, and not a bruising runner either. Looks like a potential special teamer, but do you trade up in the third round to pick a kick coverage guy? The Baltimore media should have some positive spin-type articles on him by the morning, so maybe that'll help me understand this one.

Overall, I see one plus pick, one minus pick, and one even pick. So call the draft thus far a C+ for Baltimore.

muck4doo: Cowboys win again. have your happy Giants fans: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxpcZrQQM-4

Is that sarcasm? Personally I think the cowboys farked up by taking Morris, he was lucky to be in that great defense and was not a great player in it.

Harv72b, what's the deal with Sergio Kindle? Is he actually going to play this year? He was a fairly big pick for the Ravens and then just kinda...disappeared.

If memory serves, he fell down a bunch of stairs & put himself out for two seasons. He managed to get some time in two games last year, recording no stats. He's allegedly one of the guys expected to compete for Jarrett Johnson's old job, but drafting Upshaw might've killed that. AFAIK he's ready to go for 2012, but this might also be his last shot with the team.

Hell, the Browns will probably take him. We seem to have a fetish for other teams' castoff second stringers.

Yes the browns do have that loser mentality after their team went to baltimore.

Someone will take a shot on him when/if the Ravens cut him, which is why he's still with the team. He was a high first-round talent back in the day, but slipped because of injury issues & then did his swan dive after Baltimore picked him. I have to think that if he can get/stay healthy & find a spot somewhere, he can still develop into a solid starter. It's also a plus that he can be had for the league minimum at this point.

Hear that, everyone else? Team. Not "franchise". Team.

Thank you, steamingpile.

I've been barking up that tree since I got here. Some people just refuse to believe that the Baltimore Ravens & Cleveland Browns are two separate franchises.

/Still think it was shiatty for us to get a team the way we did, but at least y'all got to keep the history. Ours resides in Indy.

I'm declaring the start to next year's "Play sh*tty for the #1 pick" campaign right now:

Joe_diGriz: Umm, judging from this picture on philly.com (yes, it's hot), I think the Eagles just drafted Uncle Rico.

I always thought he looked like Shaggy from Scooby-Doo. Damn good QB, though. Very accurate and threw for over 10,000 yards in only 35 games.

Nana's Vibrator: Put it this way. If Bernie Kosar were active in 1996 would he have played for Baltimore?

Uh, Bernie was active in '96. He was playing for the Dolphins at the time.

STill the accepted term and personally I thought that was a shiattier move than the colts being forced to make the move by Baltimore politicians.

Yep, it wasnt the owner being a shiat, the state was trying to claim the team through imminent domain.
