I've seen what happens when bee problems are ignored... if there's any justice in the world, this is what Monsanto will look like in a few months:

monsanto has genetically modified corn to produce a bacteria that kills larva called BT. corn borer moths are the target, but bees go through a larva stage, and bees collect pollen which includes corn pollen. the corn pollen stored in the bee hive kills the larva, and the hive collapses. but that is conjecture and unproven, and since monsanto has bought the research company studying the problem, the problem has gone away!

Now, since they are also the most populous generation they will do whatever it takes to maintain their fantasy even if it means leaving their ancestors with mountains of debt and a poisoned planet.

It's also the generation that got lied to about Vietnam, watched Watergate, and saw crippling inflation in the late 70s. They're parents farked them over plenty too. Most people dont want to be beekeeps esp farmers they got enough to do already. 1 acre of almonds trees need about 1 colony of bees for proper polllination. So if you have a few thousand acres of almonds means alot of bee colonys. The last few years the going rate has been 150.00/ colony of bees. We used to haul about 1500 colonys out to CA. for the almonds . We quit because of the BS involved in importing them into the people republic of CA.

I see your point. I guess in industrialized agriculture you need to industrialize ancillary area like bees as well in order to keep up sheer scale of it. Still, the old ways of smaller farms and more local vertical integration do have merits. But, its not about feeding people anymore - its about making money.

You might not be part of the immediate problem of a huge generation of selfish idiots, but you're definitely not part of the solution by defending them.
The rest of us are sick of your generation dictating how everything ought to be, and somehow everything always comes back to benefit them, being it cutting taxes for schools and colleges, "conservative" social and economic policies, or just plain attempting to privatize Medicare for everyone under 35. Sick of being told by people who went to college for free in the 70's that we have to work at McDonald's to pay off our student loans, while at the same time biatching we have no industry experience.
