At the bottom would be my guess.

Don't be so sure: this is Florida after all.

Well, I hope that it came to rest in a sexually provacative position, thereby embarrassing the (presumed elderly) driver even further.

Had to be either a woman, or some 90 year-old.

/or both

2012-04-27 10:27:20 AM
The real question here is if you are standing correctly underneath the statue, what is up the woman figure's skirt?

/focus people!

The statue was approaching. I was attempting to swerve out of the way when I struck the front end.

Is that a BMW or a Mercedes? Hard to tell, but it was most assuredly an old woman driving it. A white luxury car in Florida? Blue hair, guaranteed.

FTFA: Unconditional Surrender" is on loan to the City of Sarasota. It's reportedly based on an event photographed in New York's Times Square, during celebrations following the announcement of Japan's surrender in World War Two.

Reportedly based? It is what it is. The photo has got to be one of the top 20 well known images from the 20th century. I think it's safe to say where this iconic imagery comes from.

Can they borrow the one in San Diego until repairs are made?

Or someone who wants to reflect the sun's rays the best they can.
Ever sat in a black car in Florida after it's been parked out in the sun all day?
It's freakin hot, jack......

Ah yes, Sarasota, FL. Average age: 75 years old. Cataracts are apparently contagious too.

"Too kitschy"? You live in Florida, for crying out loud.

I can see why, the first thing is an oppurtunity to look up a woman's dress and the second thing is that this happens. Anyway that would be my defence.

He was just trying to get the world's largest up-skirt shot.

Every foot of that statue represents the time in minutes someone should be somewhere in particular...

I parsed "Driver" as "Diver" and thought it would be that underwater Jesus statue.

I've seen said statue...and I likes it.

2012-04-27 12:12:38 PM
I would love to have a camera nearby and photograph all the men who try to inconspicuously look up and see what is under the skirt.

/been there
//never looked up though
///the wife was nearby

I misread this. Initially I was trying to figure out how a car could hit a statue in the crotch...

No information about the driver? Great job there, Lou.

It didn't occur to anyone to put a guardrail around the 26' tall statue next to traffic?

This is Sarasota. The driver was female, 90, and from New Yawk.

The grass in the photo suggests it's not so much 'next to traffic'

/ Although clearly, it is just at the moment...

PsyLord: No information about the driver? Great job there, Lou.

"A 62-year-old woman driving a white Mercedes E350 sedan careened into the Unconditional Surrender statue on Sarasota's bayfront Thursday morning." Link

Oh, it turns out I was right... though I would have figured even older than 62.

62 year old women in Florida sound retarded
