Arkanaut: Shouldn't it be "Mom-trepreneur"? Just to make the number of syllables to match?

Oh, the meetings they must have had for this. Brainstorming sessions.....

I dunno what's dumber, the word Mompreneur or me for never finding this site until it's linked off Fark and struggling to find a babysitter for years.

Also, half the sitters in our area appear to be between the ages of 19-21 and have tit shots for their profile pictures. It's like a cliche waiting to happen.

fireclown: Krieghund: Oh, we just call that "game store guy".

But what else are you going to do when your only skill is answering 40k rules questions?

Game Store Guys are a prime example, but there are others. And it isn't like being able to answer arcane 40K questions isn't a valuable skill.

Used to be a valuable skill until Privateer Press and Warmachine started eating GW's lunch all over the place in the last 3 years or so.

DRTFA.
Is that like that move where Dianne Keaton gets knocked up and quits her job and moves to the quaint little Vermont farmhouse and sells her home-made babby food in a general store and becomes a famous business person and lives happily ever after with George, the handy man?

Burr: place the turkey in a preheated oven.... it's ridiculous... there are only two states an oven can possibly exist in, heated or unheated....

I love me some Carlin, but the reason people say "preheat the oven" is so that you don't put frozen food in the oven, and then turn it on- since it takes a while for an oven to heat, the food cooks improperly if the oven isn't already at "bake" temperature when the food is place inside.

You could say "heat the oven before beginning cooking process" but "preheat" is much easier to say.

CSB: There was a great GW store front here years ago. Well lit, busy, lots of friendly people of various ages and gender, roomy. Always enjoyed going in there. They shut it down and moved it into a strip mall. I don't think they washed the dinge off the windows. It's musty, always damp and chill and populated by stereotypical gaming nerds, the kind that come in body type stick, round and gelatinously greasy. They all look up at you suspiciously when you come in and act like selling you something is a boon you don't deserve. I went in twice, and the second time I made sure my son held my hand and was behind me every time I spoke to the employees.

The angry comic guy who runs the store that is marginally less dingy and isn't musty (his mom works there as well so, I guess that's a benefit) explained that GW farked over all the independent stores and used their demographics to site new store fronts for the most profit, basically pulling a wal-mart. There was a lot more to it but I was trying to figure out how to extricate myself from the situation for asking "Where'd the 40k stuff go" and most of my attention was dedicated to mapping out exit points.

These are more reasons I have retreated from supporting local shops to purchasing things online.

local momoreneur in my neighborhood just started a 'company' offering her expert social media skills to promote small businesses. The prices went to something like $1400 a month! Cant say anything to her, but wow. Either she has a lot of rich friends who like giving her money or shes never going to get a single customer.

This whole trend of motherhood-enhanced statuses is retarded. Momma grizzly? Mompreneur? Mommy-blogger?

Why does western society give special accord to women who, in addition to hatching and raising offspring, actually have a life and purpose that's unrelated to their genitalia? Is getting knocked up and taking your rotten crotchfruit to term so farking unbelievable that women who are capable of doing more than that are considered high achievers?

Am I the only one who considers furthering the species to be a: preprogrammed, b: expected, and c: nothing special?

The subby's broken, bruised body was found at the bottom of the thread. Said the policemen, "We didn't think you could punch someone through a monitor, but somehow someone clever over at Fark figured it out."

Drew Curtis commented that it was a technology Fark had just rolled out. He was hopping it would be useful in Boobies threads. After this incident, and on the advice of lawyers, the feature was disabled, "At least until the outcome of the investigation is clear." Curtis added, "We just got through defending ourselves against one major lawsuit here. We are hoping this doesn't lead to another."

Oh, god - I know one. Bonus: she also narrates what's going on in the pic from the baby's POV. "Mommy and me went to the park today and I had sooooo much fun!" kind of shiat.
