Prometheus, baby. Looking forward to that for a while. Don't have a full hard on for much else but it's good to see some sci-fi creeping in between the rom-coms and guys doing silly back flips with their Glocks out.

I guess I'm failing to see how Hysteria qualifies as either fantasy or sci-fi. Does someone's vagina have a ghost in it?

I'm reserving seats at Studio Movie Grill for Prometheus, Avengers, Dark Knight Rises the second they're available.

Loved Abraham Lincoln book, but I'm worried it won't translate to the big screen well.

Total Recall remake came out of nowhere

Spider-Man might have been fun but I'm tired of origin stories, especially when previous movies already did an origins story for him. The Second Hulk (with Norton) did a good job of giving a brief synopsis of his origin in the opening credits then just assuming everyone knew the details.

The kids will enjoy Pirates! and Brave (who am I kidding I probably will too).

Everything else looks kinda meh, so I'll wait for reviews. Probably download Piranha 3DD just for the guaranteed nudity.

Nope.

This is the first time. Any Spider-Man story without Gwen Stacy isn't and can not be his origin story. Of all of Spider-Man's enemies he only hates one, if this movie is done right, in this movie you will find out why.

Well that's good to know then. I always thought the spider-bite/uncle ben dying was his orign. I guess as long as they don't cram multiple enemies/make spidey go emo I will check it out.

They left out the Bruce Willis time-travel flick "Loopers", and I am really looking forward to that.

None of those I particularly care about, and most aren't sci-fi. Only 9 could be called even slightly sci-fi. I'll go watch Avengers, though honestly from previews it looks retarded, and I'll probably against good judgement go see MIB III.

2012-04-27 12:00:49 PM
Ok, so Prometheus and Batman.

Safety Not Guaranteed (June 8)
It's that quirky indie comedy about three magazine employees who go to interview a guy who placed a classified ad seeking someone to go back in time with him. "I have only done this once before," the ad warns. Based on an actual newspaper ad that caused an internet sensation back in 2005.

Wait....they made a movie about this...?

2012-04-27 01:08:52 PM
That "Safety Not Guaranteed" movie better feature "Push It To The Limit" in the soundtrack, and at least one mullet-headed extra.

Saw the preview for Sound of my Voice before Jeff Who Lives at Home this weekend. That movie looks unsettling.

He should be snarky and a bit loud, not the shy kid who mutters funny lines under his breath. Since he invents the web shooters himself, being Spider-man is a part spider bite and part being a really smart kid. Gwen should have a thing for him, because he's not just the shy kid that has to fall all over himself to get a girl. He's still a bit of a geek, but he should be almost nothing like Toby McGuire.

Sadly no. Kids sneak into Pryapat to get a first hand look but end up finding something.... But if "it" end up being a bloodsucker or snork I will probably jump up and giggle in glee.

I can't farking stand Colin Farrell. Not that Total Recall was any great shakes as a movie, but everyone involved with that remake can EABOD.

come on! the original total recall is fantastic. Arnie pulling giant bulbs out his nose, 3 boobs, chest mutant, mars aliens, and michael ironside shooting people and looking angry? whats not to like!

Well, that's what I meant, actually. It wasn't something I think is sacred or High Cinematic Art, but it was fun, goofy, enjoyable and said everything that needed to be said. Unless you want to go back to the source material and do a movie called "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale".

Anyway, fark Colin Farrell. A crappier actor who's considered a Great Thespian I don't know of.

Kate Beckinsale gets a special pass from me for just about anything, although she has yet to call me. It's okay, Kate, my wife will understand!

Having seen the trailer, that Snow White movie is going to be huge. Teenage girls are going to go nuts for it.

I saw a trailer last weekend when at American Reunion. I may have to give it a try. It looked much better than I would have expected.

That actually sounds like an interesting movie. I was highly amused to see that someone came up with a movie based on the Internet Time Travel Guy, though, that might get my money just because that's a hilarious idea.

And, yes, I'll go see "Prometheus". Don't let me down, Ridley.

Couldn't give a fat steaming shiat about most of this list.

Aside from the obvious ones that are going to be awesome...

Ted (July 13)
The Family Guy's Seth MacFarlane directs his first big-screen movie.

Am I the only one who wants to invent time travel in order to go back and strangle Seth MacFarlane in his crib?

Don't actually care about Superpower Man or Special Ability Guy. That horse has been flogged into a frothy paste.

What is getting me all giddy inside is Birdemic 2. That one should sweep the Oscars.

Saw the Avengers yesterday when the local comic book store had a special preview screening. Theater security did a pat down on people because no cell phones were allowed inside.

Great summer movie but if you hate Joss Whedon you will hate this movie.

Wife wants to see Avengers on the big screen. Anything else, we'll wait for Netflix to stream it.

2012-04-27 02:27:28 PM
There are 4 or 5 movies of those 33 that don't look like absolute ass IMO

Dark Knight Rises
Avengers
Brave
Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter
Prometheus

Are the only ones looking forward to and I could settle for just Dark knight and Prometheus.

I didn't get one either. Maybe the theaters figure Avengers is a lock money-wise, so they're using that space for things that need more promotion.

Shiat, look at who their sponsors and advertisers are: Oracle, Acura, Farmer's insurance. I don't think they're even bothering with fast food chains and the like.

Fun Fact: Larry Ellison had a cameo in Iron Man, and the final battle in Iron Man II was filmed in the Oracle dome. We're going to have our fingerprints all over The Avengers.

Wow, there are more films there that I want to see than I had imagined.

I'm a little confused as to how straight-up horror movies are getting lumped into sci-fi now though.

The Pirates! Band of Misfits (April 27)
The latest stop-motion animated movie from the makers of Wallace and Gromit and Chicken Run, and it's easily as good as their earlier works. It's honestly much better if you think of it as being called Pirates! In an Adventure With Scientists, the title of the book and the U.K. version. Basically, pirates and Charles Darwin, in Victorian England.

Yeah, better take out any reference to science if you want it to sell in America.
