I expect during Obama's second term we'll repeal the 22nd amendment, otherwise I hope she'll reconsider.

2012-04-27 01:10:24 PM
The President and First Lady seem to have a level of affection between them that seems very genuine and that I don't ever recall seeing in any of the other first families.

2012-04-27 01:10:56 PM

JerseyTim: I had never considered that. She has been a terrific First Lady.

I don't think she's the type to go big on politics. I can see her continuing her movement for helping feed kids healthier food after her husband is out of the White House. She has been doing a good job with that.

2012-04-27 01:12:59 PM
Sure she has been a great first lady but I wish she would stop stalking me.

I sent a donation for Balrogo Hussaint-he-the-worst Obama-rama-ding-dong-dang-it the last time around and now Michelle keeps e-mailing me.

Subject of the one I just received this morning: "A little fun".

Please baby, I am not from Havana!

These poor people.... Do you think when Barack first floated the idea to her that she had any idea the utter hate fest they would have to wade through? This wasn't even that bad when Clinton was President. Sure, there were Hillary and Chelsea jokes, and there WERE some bad ones, but nowhere NEAR the level that Michelle and her kids have to deal with on a daily basis. It's like the Right has turned the vile hate up to 11... At least with Chelsea and Hillary, I could understand the basis for the 'ugly' jokes, Chelsea wasn't a looker, and they always managed to find a picture of Hillary looking particularly scary. Michelle Obama, on the other hand, has actually been an involved first lady, yet hasn't REALLY been an in-your-face Hillary type, no matter what the fat-asses on the Right say. The kids don't deserve this either. Funny how the heckling changes, depending who's in office though. Republicans are in office, and it's poking fun of the teenagers getting in trouble, and the hotness of said teens. Democrats get in, and suddenly it open season, with awards going to the lowest, most despicable comments someone can come up with. I am truly surprised that more racist crap hasn't been uttered, only because it seems like such a hate-a-palooza...

Il Douchey: How come there's no adulation over Michelle's magnificent, magical arms anymore? We used to get magazine covers and loads of fawning praise assuring us that these were not mere limbs, but great monuments of perfection. Never before had hand been joined to shoulder so spectacularly. Now, we don't hear about them, we don't see them, we don't congratulate each other over them anymore -nothing. What happened?

Although I think her husband is really a Kenyan.....I will give credit to Michelle Obama for being an outstanding First Lady

Her "Joining Forces" org has been a real service to families of military members....even just for the emotional support. Really embarrasing for the War Hawk GOP to never step up in such a way for military families

The GOP needs to stop worrying about her trips and her derriere. That will not wash with the voters

Sick.

Michelle Obama tried to refocus the kids on her husband's reelection effort. "Being president is a really hard job and it's an important job," Obama said. "And when my husband is running for president, we're right in there; we're serving, too. And I think that once his terms are over, we'll go on to do other important things -- because there are so many ways that you can help this country and the world, even if you're not president of the United States.

I like the confidence. I wish I was that optimistic.

Cue Republican outrage.

2012-04-27 01:19:57 PM
If she (or anyone) intended to run, she would of course say, at this point, "No I won't run."

But based on "Game Change," I'd say there is no chance at all that she's interested in entering politics herself.

It would be fun to watch Limbaugh literally explode and shower gobs of fat and bile everywhere though.

The unrelenting conservative hatred of Michelle is one of the clearest examples of their moral inferiority to normal Americans.

Did you here she spent more than $400,000 of tax payer money on her vacation? She is disgusting. It is almost as disgusting as the time she said "all this for a damn flag" at a 9/11 ceremony.

/this was seen recently on my facebook, apparently her vacation price is the newest right wing outrage.

If she were to run for office, it would have to be an office specifically created for her, where she would be paid 300k a year to do basically nothing, and her job would be so important that when she left they didn't replace her.

A bit like the job she had a hospital.

I'm older than you, probably. I recall Gerald and Betty Ford pushed the twin beds back together in the White House.

That said, I'm sure Mrs. O will be glad to be a private citizen again.

I think she should form an "exploratory committee" and collect a bunch of money, cruise around the country and do various candidate-like things, make a bunch of inflammatory statements about political issues, then just sort of fade from view and give all the money to her husband's campaign.

I understand people can do things like that.

She's a nice first lady, but I don't see how that segways into being presidential material. You might as well have asked Laura Bush or Hillary Clinton.

/How did she even get to be a questionable one?

Hillary Clinton actually is a career politician and was independently of Bill's career. Laura Bush and Michelle Obama, not so much.

I don't know anyone who thinks the Democrats have dozens of good candidates for 2016. There's discussion around Hillary and Joe Biden, since one ran last time and the other's the sitting Vice President, but I don't think anyone thinks either is a "good" candidate. There are very few nationally-recognized Democrats.

Here's the part that caught my eye:

FTFA:
"But if Michelle Obama changed her mind, she wouldn't be the first former first lady to run for the highest elected office in the land. Hillary Clinton, President Bill Clinton's wife, ran for president in 2008, though she fell short to Barack Obama."

I did not know that! Where do they come up with these gems of information?

what_now: If I Michelle Obama, I would invite Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh to dinner. I would stipulate that all cameras would be off so they could work through some differences.

I would make a big deal of it- invite some food magazine to do a puff piece on the food and wine to be served while talking about the specific dietary restrictions of the participants, have photos of me in some fantastic designer dress, gliding into the East Wing on the arm of the Tuxedo clad president.

Then, I would have both of us change into track suits, and wheel in a carton of Popey's chicken and malt liquor, and watch the two of them go nuts the next day trying to prove that it happened.

If, FSM help me, I'm ever elected to an office, I SO want you to be my chief of staff.

You mean now the U of Chicago hospitals has an Executive VP for Corporate Strategy and Public Affairs instead of a VP for Community and External Affairs?? This sort of corporate reshuffling is an outrage! An outrage, I say! Think of the poor bastards who had to change the signs on the doors! They have to scrape off those letters with razor blades, you know.
