You still have an obligation to report found money to give the "loser" an opportunity to reclaim it. You may not think so, but you'd be wrong.

Bit'O'Gristle: I dont see how this is theft. She just found it on the floor. Unless she saw the guy drop it, then moved in.
And why would you carry that much loose cash in your pocket? What a dumbass.

Watch the video in the article. She sees him accidently drop the money from his pocket, then she bends down, picks it up and leaves the store. She was directly in line behind the guy that dropped the money too.

As to why he was carrying that much, it could be a number of reasons. Could be doesn't trust banks, was changing banks, was planning on making a large cash purchase later in the day, etc.

Who knows? It's his money.

Funny how when a major corporation, like a bank, just "finds" money they have no obligation to report it.

One time i place my wallet on top of my car while I secured my children in their seatbelts. I drove of and my wallet went flying. All the money for that months bils was inside it. A few hours later a man and his little boy came to my door to return my wallwr and all my money. What a great lesson for that mans child and my sons.

A month later my home caught on fire. One of the firemen was the man who had returned my wallet. My son recognised him and asked if he was our angel. So cute!

A fantastic institution in the south eastern portion of PA, DE and MD.

Puts 7/11 to shame.

Some will argue that Sheetz is better, but those are also Pittsburg fans, so they are clearly lacking a few tools in the shed.

The money didn't belong to her
She knew the money didn't belong to her
She took it anyway, thus depriving the rightful owner of it

That's theft

Freakin Rican: so he drops the money, walks out. she finds the money and looks around and keeps it. how did she steal the money exactly?

i mean if i "saw" the person drop it i would tell them. even if she saw him drop it, is it her duty to tell him?
then at that point she keeps it, its stealing?

someone splain......
my brain is not seeing it

So, if I see a car sitting there, even though I know it is not mine, it is cool if I just hook it up to my truck and haul it off.

Yes, taking property that is not yours is stealing. How is this a difficult concept?

badgerb: It sucks because it sounds like she really needed it (spent money on her kids and paid the rent), but it is clearly theft.

and if a woman dropped the money and it was a man who stole it used it to feed and pay rent would you be white knighting.

If he used it to feed his three kids, yes.

Mr.Hawk: Paparo's friend told NBC10 Paparo is facing tough financial times and just made a mistake.

That's pretty much what every thief says isn't it?

True, but considering what she spent the money on in this case I would believe her. Especially since she has no prior criminal record. Yes, she deserves to be punished, but she was just desperate and made a mistake. I would not throw the book at her.

Watch the vid. He was still standing there. She saw him drop the money from his back pocket as he pulled out cash to pay. She picked it up behind him, paused for a second, then dropped what she was about to purchase on the counter and walked out.

It sucks because it sounds like she really needed it (spent money on her kids and paid the rent), but it is clearly theft.
