Couldn't you have used an equivalent of Bieber, some dead bubblegum pop artist?

Is Donny Osmond dead yet?

And it was on this date that the HOTY award for the Entertainment tab was won. I'm about to piss myself laughing.

ok, I was surprised to learn that Bieber is dead, but I seriously doubt Elvis would come out of hiding to do something like this.

Do this and die. Bieber will never be a classic.

The scene in Tennessee is so hokey and tasteless already, would anyone really notice?

No, but Frank Sinatra is

There are very few things I would not stoop to in order to get my hands on tickets to a Sinatra hologram.

Why, because Elvis was such a great song writer?

Back in the 1970s there was a company that was trying to get investors
interested in putting up money to build a hologram theatre in Las Vegas and
one the "performers" they planned to have immortalized in laser was Ol' Blue
Eyes himself. Unfortunately, the technology of the time was monumentally
underpowered and the idea never went anywhere.

No, because Elvis has a thing for teen girls.

"Elvis: The Concert" has been touring for years and making tons of money. They have all the original band members playing live, mixed with Elvis' concert footage.

This reminds me, I need to put in my will that my likeness/image will not be used for any newly created media or android covering. You may show prior recorded material of me, but will not be able to generate new material from existing material.

/of course, I don't know why anybody would, but it's more of a "just in case"

Ah Elvis. From back when teenage girls were right about anything.

That is where he really could find his stride. Lesbian porn is pretty popular.

That Tupac thing was tasteless. Utterly tasteless.

It was so tasteless, that I half-expected them to whip out a hologram of Al Jolson to duet with Tupac.

I'm not a big fan of bringing back dead artists via hologram. It just seems like a money grab to me. That said, there are some I'd pay to see. Like Sinatra, Elvis or the Beatles.

I think once the estates of the artists get wind of how much money they can make, we're going to see a lot more of this.

The two issues I have with this whole "hologram" thing taking off is:

1. It's not a hologram. It's still just a 2d projection.

2. It's still a pre-recorded or CGI created performance. There is nothing "live" about it, which to me completely removes the appeal of a live performance.

word. yeah, it's a projections of a 3-d simulacrum image but it's still 2-d. really really slick 2d. call it 2.5D.

and the fact that they're going to either re-use old footage or just animate a digital actor.

now, a gorillaz hologram show i would watch...

Of course this is all further proof that Elvis is, in fact, dead, as if we needed any further confirmation after two of his daughter's marriages went through without him holding a press conference.

Elvis had impacted fecal matter in his bowel bigger than Justin Beiber.

"This is obviously a historic and exciting initiative that we're all witnessing currently, and it would make sense for them to bring it to Europe," he said. "And maybe take it to the rest of the world."

It's certainly historic. This "technology" predates the Civil War.

And it's use here is about as meocre as the effect can be.

Why are people so excited about this?

Bieber actually wrote more songs than Elvis. They are both manufactured pop stars so I care for neither.

Little Richard is the real king of rock.

Not sure how that relates.

Former first lady Laura Bush killed more people than Charles Manson. But Manson will always be the king of serial killers.

I would not call Elvis manufactured.

But I agree about Little Richard being awesome.

If the artists or music were good today there would be no need to bring back anyone via hologram.
