Jabberwookiee: heinrich66: So you're going with the old mainstream press narrative to dispute the current mainstream press narrative in order to advance a conspiracy theory? Interesting play...

Did the few printed speculations about bin Laden's death amount to a 'narrative'? The clever symmetry in your refutation is lacking.

Meh. I was watching a lot of cable news back then and for a while there was lots of talk of him already being dead, mostly speculation about missile strikes on Tora Bora. And now all I can find are links to conspiracy sites. Oh well.

Well, that tends to happen when the person you say probably died releases video/audio tapes years after you say he died. Seems pretty good evidence that you speculated wrongly.

And, in the end, it doesn't even matter. If Osama had been killed at Tora Bora or anywhere else prior to the May 2011, then al Qaeda had managed to keep the fact hidden which made the U.S. look ineffective and incompetent because we apparently couldn't even kill one stupid camel-farker who helped murdered 3000 of our people.

Under that scenario, the bin Laden raid has forced al Qaeda to abandon the "lie" that Osama was dead, and made it admit that Osama actually is dead, at the hands of the U.S. power, and regained for us the respect that the "lie" that he was alive was meant to take away from us. Either way, whether Osama was actually dead or really alive, the Obama raid was a success.

They almost look disappointed whenever you point out that al Qaeda has not had a successful terror attack in America under Obama. They have this look which says, "Yeah, what's taking those lazy S.OB.s so long, don't they know Obama will be re-elected if they don't attack soon?" Sad really.

I never did see bin Laden's birth cert. I bet he wasn't even Muslim....but just a fallen Catholic with Jewish parents.

Imagine my surprise to see the derp turned up to 11 the following morning.

Indeed. Wasn't one of the complaints from the right that the Obama administration finally killing Osama bin Laden would trigger a wave of terrorist attacks?

Fear him because he attacked us; fear killing him will cause future attacks.

I am. I think mainly because I'm an American by choice rather than circumstance since I'm a naturalized citizen. I've made my share of sacrifices and endured too many difficulties in my journey to let the current political climate hinder my love for what I still consider to be an inherently good nation, warts and all.

I'm proud of being part of the first modern democratic republic. The one that basically created the modern western form of governance. The one that recognized that the primary role of government is and should always be to protect its people's rights.

I'm not proud of the current political climate, and I'm not proud that, all too often, we fail to live up to our high-minded ideals, but I am proud of those ideals, all the same.

kmmontandon: I think Republicans should run with this - claim that Obama is politicizing the war on terror and using scare tactics during an election campaign.

You know, because then they'll have to keep bringing up the whole "Osama's dead, Obama ordered it" part of things.

Besides they could then harp on how bad Obama is at Polticizing the GWOT as compared to president Bush. He was a true master of the art. You remmeber all those terror alerts in the summer of 2004? A cynic might have thought they were bogus and invented just to shore up Bush's poll numbers. But that wouldn't have been strictly accurate. Every one of those terror plots was uncovered by torturing an Al-Qeda operative name Abu Zubaydah, who bush publicly called a terror "mastermind" and personally gave the order to torture.

The problem was every single one of the plots he confessed to were pure fantasy, probably made up by him on the spot. That might have had something to do witht he fact that a) he was a very minor Al-Qaeda figure, basically the travel agent for memebers wives and girlfriends or more importantly that B) he was acutally clinically, full-on coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs, insane, As in he had Multiple personality disorder and occassionally thought he was a six year old girl. Something the FBI discovered by reading his journals and something they told the president BEFORE he gave to order fo the CIA to torture him,

But hey, since a terrorist said it, it was "valid info" and could be used to spend thousands of NYPD man hours to "investigate" and justify changing the "terror alert level " color chart right?

Yeah but don't you find it just CONVENIENT Fartbama got Osama on May 2nd? I mean, how CONVENIENT is it that May 2nd is only 6 months away from election day. You couldn't even get farther away from election day if you tried. How farking CONVENIENT is that? Clearly N-ZERO-bama wants to hide his shame and ordered the strike as far from November as possible. Why can't people see it? He's trying to hide it right in front of our very eyes.

powhound: To be fair, Clinton authorized the launch of cruise missiles whenever the press got on his ass about his infidelity. And Bush randomly raised that terror alert thingy from time to time when his boy Dick got the urge.

That's a troll, right?

Whenever Clinton tried doing anything against AQ the Republicans whined and biatched like the little pussies they are that he was just playing politics.

That you were stupid enough to believe that back then is one thing.

But to try and assert that today in 2012 is purely batshiat insanity.

The GOP never took AQ seriously and the result of that was 9/11.

The Dems did and the result was Bin Laden dead and his group completely compromised.

And you are still stuck on that "aspirin factory" rhetoric.

You are a sad little man.

Is that right? You mean the Founders created a forward looking document giving everyone male and female, regardless of race, the freedoms they deserved? Because if not, you're a big hypocrite trying to pretend the Founders used the Constitution to "protect peoples rights." In fact the Bill of Rights itself was written in haste and out of the purview of the Convention itself.
