Mrtraveler01:
Moments later, Crowley suggested that she had been joking, writing, "I love exposing the Left's total lack of a sense of humor." However, when one person said that Crowley had "insinuated" that Fluke was gay, she said that her original message was a "straightforward question."

As I said, criticisms of the right generally involve mind-reading. It could easily be a question Crowley KNEW would generate tons of leftist butt-hurt, (and she liked that idea) and still be a simple question. But, you KNOW what she was thinking, right?

hubiestubert: TwistedIvory: I like how subby impugns a Fox News commentator for being insulting and discriminatory while at the same time calling that same commentator a "bimbo."

Cognitive dissonance runs deep, eh?

No, I called her a vapid twunt based on words that came out of her own mouth.

I didn't assume she was a slut for representing those who would use birth control to regulate health conditions. Nor did I assume she was an idiot for working at Fox. I based my opinion from her own remarks that she is a vapid twunt, and she KEEPS on giving as time goes on. Sort of like I didn't assume that Palin was anything more than a Governor of a big albeit sparsely populated state. Any derision that I have heaped upon her these last few years, has been of her own doing. Or like Snooki has earned her status.

I give folks plenty of rope to hang themselves, and most folks usually only take a few inches which results in gentle ribbing and joking. This gal? She's sort of run with it...

The school already had an exception policy for medically necessary birth control you vapid coont. Even fluke admitted she didn't know about that. Stop being ignorant retards.

Awesome!

Yes, let's not lose sight of the Real VictimTM here.

Do you even listen to yourself when you derp like that or do you just fade in and out?

Your concern here is duly noted.

Victim? There are no victims in this circus of a news - cycle.

The handful of responses to my sarcastic post have done nothing to change my mind about the earnest humorlessness of the Left. You all don't even recognize a joke when you see it unless it's been vetted by your party. If not, there are a million posts by what sounds like a bunch of latter day Queen Victoria's, "We are not amused!"

Or else the punchline to the joke about how many feminists does it take to screw in a lightbulb: "That's NOT funny!"

I don't know how people can stand to watch a channel that is just 24-hour bile. They're the unhappiest, teeth-gnashingest people on television. Fox News is the only channel where, every day, you can watch interviews with billionaires complaining about what a whiny bunch of ungrateful peasants the poor people are.

I won't shop at Home Depot after seeing one of the co-founders on Fox News biatching about how the Occupy people are "scum" and he's a "self-made man", painting the whole group with a broad stroke that simultaneously insulted anyone who wasn't at least a millionaire while patting himself on the back for starting a business in an era when there wasn't anywhere near as much competition and plenty of help from banks and the government to keep your business going.

Just about everyone I've seen on Fox News speaking in this vein was from the "I got mine, now f♥ck you." school of thought... And the worst thing about it is that a lot of the people who watch Fox News think that anybody can become a billionaire if they just work hard and climb the ladder... Something that is just plain, utter bullshiat.

Just curious, what kind of horsepower does your hoverround have and can it store your misspelled tea party placards with ease?

Why yes I do have health insurance and I do pay for it. I have this crazy notion that if others want health insurance then they too should pay for it. Pick the company that provides the coverage you want and have at it.

I suppose I could take my "hoverround" (ie my car)to a Tea Party rally if I wanted to without concern of it being vandalized or smeared with human bodily excretions... Like at, oh, a OWS rally.

spamdog: Looks like randomjsa is totally invested in the right wing spin on this one.

Moron who can't come up with an actual response. Next.

LeoffDaGrate: You do realize that in one post you've managed to 1) totally ignore the original premise of the article, 2) totally ignore the countless well-reasoned counter-arguments brought up to every one of your points in previous posts, and 3) managed to dream up absolutely false images of a woman who you have never, and will never meet?

Bravo, sir. The crap that comes from your fingertips is only rivaled by whatever Skinnyhead manages to dream up.

Yes, I got the point of the original article... It being "WAAH! People continue to treat a liberal woman the same way liberals treat conservative women!"

Why expand on that point when I can get the to the real issue here that liberals want to ignore? If you want birth control the go buy it your damn self.

And no, just because they told you what you wanted to hear didn't make their arguments 'well-reasoned' nor were my comparisons invalid. Going somewhere that you know doesn't offer absolutely everything you want then complaining about it after the fact is childish and stupid. The point was perfectly clear in the last comparison in which I stated she could just as easily have purchased health insurance that she knows doesn't cover birth control, then complained about the fact that it doesn't cover birth control.

She choose of her own free will to go to a college that didn't offer birth control as part of its student health insurance. That was her choice but that's not good enough. The school has to be forced to give her what she wants because she can't be bothered to either 1) Go to a different school 2) Pay for her own damn birth control 3) Purchase her own health insurance that covers it.

She can't afford it? Too bad! That's what we call life. She can quit school or get a part time job if she absolutely has to have it or she can do something really crazy like go do a different school.

quatchi: Asking to receive good value for money you are already spending is not a crime and doesn't warrant your scorn.

No, asking for it is not a crime.

Using the power of government to force the school to provide it is asinine and stupid when she can, once again... 1) Go to a different school 2) Pay for her own damn birth control 3) Purchase her own health insurance that covers it.

In Georgetown's case, the students wanted their coverage to include the pill, their insurers want them on the pill, the only one who didn't were the religious folks who run the place and while we allow religion to discriminate legally within the structure of their houses of worship once they enter the business world, schools or hospitals or rental halls, their free pass to be dicks expires.

So basically, the rights of the school be absolutely damned so long as they're not doing what we think they should? Right, got it. By the way screw your rights if the right group of people decide that they don't think you should have them. That's such a wonderful concept and its going to end so well.

Or to put it more bluntly, it doesn't matter one bit what the students want, or what the insurance company wants, all that matters is what the school wants. Period. End of discussion. They have the only opinion that matters and if you don't like it, go to a different school. I'm not going to run around trying to tell your new school what goods and services they must provide to you and I'm sure as hell not going to attend it if it doesn't provide a good or service I consider to of critical importance to me.

Once we get past the lie that this has anything at all to do with cost we're left with religious busybodies trying to force other people to live their lives by their rules as they put themselves between a woman and her health care provider.

Oh right, i forgot the part where they kidnapped her and forced her to go to the school. Up until this point I was under the strange impression that she knew that this college didn't offer birth control and decided to go there anyway... Oh wait, that's precisely what happened. Nobody is forcing anybody to do anything. School has a rule that you don't like? Go somewhere else or do something really wild and don't go there to begin with. The idea that somebody is being "forced" to do anything here is so far outside the realm of reality that it would be laughable if it wasn't so pathetic that you actually warped reality that far just to "feel correct" about what you were saying.

Mrtraveler01:
So was it a straightforward question or was it a joke? She's flip-flopping on this more than Romney would.

She said it was a straight-up question. I see no reason to disbelieve her. It is YOUR interpretation of "I love exposing the Left's total lack of a sense of humor" that implies it was a joke. She never says that. I mean, maybe she DID change her story -- but there's no evidence of that, outside of your interpretation of what an ambiguous comment means.

That's what I'm talking about. You present this as if she had said "Oh, I was only joking when I said that," and she did not say that. Then, your careless interpretation of what she said becomes the lodestone for a whole attack against her for waffling and changing her mind after having stepped in it. Now, if you are CORRECT in your interpretation, that makes sense. But there's really no reason to think you ARE correct, except that you always make the assumption that anyone to the right of yourself is evil, and twist whatever they say to support that opinion. Or, at least, that is what your posts over a rather long time suggest.

To use an example from personal experience, when I post in climate threads, I have said many times that, while many of the mechanisms discussed in the AGW (Anthropogenic Global Warming) hypothesis are correct, when it was developed, we did not know about the negative feedback of water vapor, and the amplifying effect that cosmic ray flux has on insolation, and the over-estimation of atmospheric sensitivity to carbon dioxide sort of balanced those "missing" forcings out. That means, that while increasing the carbon dioxide level WILL increase global temperature, the estimates of by how much are seriously over-stated. And, I provide many references to peer-reviewed scientific papers which show all varieties of overstatement of sensitivity to carbon dioxide levels.

Very nearly without fail, I will get a comment such as "You're a young Earth creationist" back. WTF? Most weird. Also, clearly NOT indicated from what I have said. (Also not true, which isn't really important)

Again, that is only YOUR interpretation. And, thanks, by the way, for backing me up on that. And, backing HER up on that whole "lack of a sense of humor" thing, too.

The point is, YOU CANNOT READ HER MIND, and there are multiple ways to interpret what she said. Again, if she actually SAID she was joking at any time, it's different. But, with this comment, you are making up shiat for her, and then berating her for what YOU said.

I like exposing leftists' lack of humor and logic -- which does NOT mean the previous paragraph was intended as a joke; it was not. And, for a moment, just assume that her "To a man?" comment was a simple question. It certainly DID expose leftists' lack of a sense of humor, and the OMG outrage that someone not a leftist would mention ANYTHING to do with orientation. Comments in this thread indicate that many are less than certain of Fluke's orientation; a simple question, without emotional loading, is WELL within reason. Fluke would also be entitled to tell her "None of your business" if she wanted.

Let's say someone interviewed Larry Craig right after his Minneapolis incident. Would the question "Are you gay?" have been a horrific, insulting thing? If not, explain the difference.

Or, are you trying to have your cake, and eat it, too? She was speaking of a lesbian friend, but her talking about birth control proves that she's heterosexual? And, is it okay to ask someone's orientation? How about someone who places themselves in the spotlight? What's the general rule? If leftists do it, it's okay, if rightists do it, they're scum? Republican homosexuals should be vilified, but Democratic homosexuals can have gay bordellos in their house? Gee, this political correctness crap sure is confusing.

spamdog:
GeneralJim: I like exposing leftists' lack of humor and logic

Any time a conservative says this, you can interpret it as "I'm a big fat asshole".

How's that for an interpretation Jim?

Works for me. Let me make a note, here... Any time a conservative says leftists have no sense of humor, that means that spamdog is a big fat asshole. Got it. Good to know.

GeneralJim: PonceAlyosha: GeneralJim: Let's say someone interviewed Larry Craig right after his Minneapolis incident. Would the question "Are you gay?" have been a horrific, insulting thing? If not, explain the difference.

No, you idiot, because Larry Craig was farking found trying to solicit homosexual sex, while farking Sandra farking Fluke just tried to testify before congress about how a FRIEND needed hormone therapy.

So, anybody soliciting homosexual sex deserves to have that made public? Really? Or is it the fact that Craig is a congresscritter? But, Fluke DELIBERATELY placed herself in public view, and Craig had his personal business splashed all over the headlines, if you'll pardon the expression.

Craig's bathroom boy hunt was made public because he was arrested. When someone is arrested, the police have to file a report. Media people read said report. A U.S. Congressman getting arrested for anything is news. Thus, news organizations run said story, and it becomes public.

Do you need me to go slower?

BTW, Senator Larry Craig is probably not going to sleep with you, so you don't have to try so hard.
