(Christian Science Monitor)   How do Norwegians send an extra-special Fark You to a mass-murdering psychopath? Forty thousand of them marched to Oslo singing the song he claims is an example of Marxist indoctrination   (csmonitor.com) divider line 117

song promoting tolerance is a Marxist brainwashing tool

Sounds like something from WND, or American Thinker, or Breitbart, or Fox News or the WSJ editorial page.

hero tag went to norway to sing that song as well?

I got a hopeful tear in my eye from that. 40,000 sounds like Norwegian culture is surviving the multi-cultural onslaught.

"It's not allowed to be angry and furious [in Norway]," Breivik told Mette Yvonne Larsen, legal counsel for the victims, in court on April 23, calling the Norwegian response "illogical." "There aren't too many countries that would have reacted like that," he said.

That's the point. You do not let the terrorists win. You become more open minded and accepting. You do not retaliate with paranoia and bigotry.

Here's a Google Translation of the song. It's clearly a Marxist anthem. DERP!

Lille Bjørn Nilsen - Children of the Rainbow

A sky full of stars.
Blue sea as far as you can see.
A land where flowers grow.
Do you want more?
Together we will live
Each sister and each brother.
Small children of the rainbow
And a fertile soil.

Some believe there is no point.
Others throw away the time with talk.
Some believe that we can live on
Plastics and synthetic foods.
And if someone steals from the young
Sent out to fight
Some steal from the many
Who come after us

chorus:
Tell all the kids!
And tell every father and mother:
Yet we have a chance
To share your hope on Earth.

2012-04-26 12:26:30 PM
So he was right all along.

2012-04-26 12:26:46 PM
Isn't his first thought going to be "SEE? I told you! Look how brainwashed they all are!"?

The legal system in general is just crazy. The guy basically admits cold bloodedly mowing down these kids. Why is he still alive again?

I meant to say short of promoting killing people (unless they are acting on behalf of their Christian god).

I approve of the sentiment but that looks like one stupid-ass shiatty song.

What's "cultural Marxism"? is this a case of some racist douchbag conflating "marxist" with bad or that actually a thing?

It's that way in a lot of Europe, if that's what floats your boat. It does make you creepy and weird though.

spentmiles: The legal system in general is just crazy. The guy basically admits cold bloodedly mowing down these kids. Why is he still alive again?

Because most countries in the developed world don't do that state-sponsored killing thing?
Because that's what he wants?
Because, frankly, he should probably be studied by pschiatrists/psychologists regardless of whether he's found sane or not?

These are just a handful of things off the top of my head.

Whether he has an actual, defineable mental illness or not seems immaterial to me. A human being that can do what he did is clearly wired very differently to most of the rest of us, and should probably be prodded and poked for the rest of its natural life to find out what makes it tick.

Derived from a Pete Seeger song...

Ya know, I never associated Marxism with multi-culturalism.

I do associate miss-associating Marxism with the GOP.

You're seeing a (remotely) possible future here in the U.S., as right-wing conservative nutjobs become more and more angry & frustrated as society moves on. Once Obama gets a second term in the White House, we'll be seeing more homegrown nutjobs claiming to be "militant nationalists." It'll be fun.

mongbiohazard: "Way to not give him the power, Cyril."

Had to chuckle at that one.

Yup. And we could learn a thing or two over here in America. Now excuse me, I need to get to the airport early enough so I can catch my flight after getting my balls groped by some underpaid high school dropout for no good reason.

He only needs to repeat his murdering rampage another one million, two hundred and ninety-eight thousand seven hundred more times and he will have killed as many people as Marxism did in the 20th century.

Stick that up your "Godwin's Law"!

IIRC he was declared competent to stand trial. Also, I wouldn't give the racist prick the satisfaction of the death penalty. Give him life without parole, throw him in jail and let him watch as the world passes by him, showing how insignificant he is in the context of the human experience.

How do you think genocides happen? Normal people can do this sort of thing - they just need the right authority figure.

It isn't even just restricted to types you americans call "jocks" or "rednecks". Intellectuals are particularly prone to this due to their admiration of intellectual figureheads - often the most devious manipulators.

Look up the Milgram Experiment.

I think that's probably the best cause of action, yes. Don't let the evil moron become a martyr to anyone else and just let him rot in a cell.

Which is essentially the same thing, only with more complex words. Still, I just hope this doesn't ever happen. It's a tragedy no one should go through.

Rose: I used to loooove washing dishes! In Minnesota, the whole family'd get together and wash dishes. Even Uncle Gustav, after the giant Swiss Army Knife accident, learned to dry dishes with his feet. We used to laugh and carry on and have such a happy time.
Sophia: What is it with you people? All you ever had were happy times?! It's sickening! Happy times freezing in the cold! Happy times during the locust invasion, happy times eating reindeer! How about death! Did you have happy times then?
Rose: Yes, actually, we did. It was a chance to get together and remember other happy times!

Rose: [on Blanche] I think she's a gerchominochen.
Doctor: Well, what exactly does that mean?
Rose: Literally, it's the precise moment when dog doo turns white. But in general, it refers to the kind of person you don't want to share your hoodencoggles with.
Dorothy: Rose, if you say one more of those stupid words, so help me -
Rose: Oh, blow it out your Tubenburbles!

Rose: The same thing happened to the Bigbotters back in St. Olaf. You see, Gretchen had this thing for Buddy, but Mr. Bigbotter didn't approve - he did his best to keep them apart. But, one day he came home, early, and found Gretchen and Buddy in... how will I say it... a most indelicate situation.
Dorothy: What did he do?
Rose: Well he yelled at them to stop, but they wouldn't so he turned the hose on them!
Blanche: He turned the hose on them?!
Rose: Well they were in the front yard!
Dorothy: Wait, wait, wait a minute, Rose. Buddy and Gretchen weren't people, were they?
Rose: Of course not; they were dogs! Gretchen was a Dalmation and Buddy was a Schnauzer. And Mr. Bigbotter wasn't too happy when he ended up with a litter of Schnalmations!

Rose: I think it's impossible to paint autumn in St. Olaf.
Dorothy: How come?
Rose: Maybe it's because of the horrible St. Olaf Falling Leif story.
Dorothy: Please, Rose, if this a story about a man named Leif, I don't want to hear it.
Rose: It's not that long.
Dorothy: No.
Rose: It has a surprise ending.
Dorothy: All right Rose, just the ending, but keep it short!
Rose: ...Splat.

Learning To Be Silent

The pupils of the Tendai school used to study meditation before Zen entered Japan. Four of them who were intimate friends promised one another to observe seven days of silence.

On the first day all were silent. Their meditation had begun auspiciously, but when night came and the oil lamps were growing dim one of the pupils could not help exclaiming to a servant: "Fix those lamps."

The second pupil was surprised to hear th first one talk. "We are not supposed to say a word," he remarked.

"You two are stupid. Why did you talk?" asked the third.

"I am the only one who has not talked," concluded the fourth pupil.
