ManateeGag: Mugato: everyone thinks he's some "messiah" that can do no wrong.

you know, I've only heard people on the right say this about Obama. I've never heard anyone on the left call the him a messiah or a savior.

That was my point. The right always accuses the other side of saying that and they never have.

cameroncrazy1984: Mugato: he recently appeared on the Jimmy Fallon Show.

You think that's a criticism?

He could have at least done Conan.

I would pay for that to be the official Obama portrait

I agree with that, actually. Jimmy Fallon is about as talented as a dead mouse.

Man, you guys haven't watched Late Night at all. He does some dead-on impressions of Neil Young, Bob Dylan and others.

Late Night is really just an extended version of the only thing he was good at on SNL: Weekend Update.

Plus: THE ROOTS!

cameroncrazy1984: It's interesting how, after not being able to prove Obama's been an "abject failure" as he originally stated, he goes the other direction and accuses us of believing him to be perfect.

As an addendum to my projection comment, I'd like to add that many reactionaries I know have a black-and-white view of the world that doesn't afford very much nuance, if any at all. To that group, there really is no space between "abject failure" and "messiah." You're either in or out.

cameroncrazy1984: Il Douchey: Ah yes, that sad, tattered race card is hauled out yet again to try and rationalize the abject failure of the Obama administration. Barry's skin has nothing to do with his failure. If only things were that simple.

Abject failure? Please define.

Maybe it's these:

GM is the #1 carmaker in the world. We made a profit on that.

Osama bin Laden is dead. Obama made the call to go in and get him when there was a 50/50 chance he wasn't even there.

Children are no longer rejected due to pre-existing conditions due to Obamacare. They can also stay on their parents' plans until age 26.

Maybe it's the fact that my credit card has to tell me in advance when my rate will change, and what that rate will be, before it does.

Or is it the fact that we've added private-sector jobs for two years straight? Must be all that job-killing regulation that's adding jobs.

I'm sorry. Was the "abject failure" not any of those?

If not, what was it? You'll have to speak up because I can't hear you over the sound of all those successes.

Nice post.

And while were adding things up here what exactly do the GOP think is their greatest legislative accomplishment in the last 3 1/2 years?

What single thing did they do that they can point to and say "Elect us because of X"?

I can't think of one.

Anyone?

he couldn't kill him its like GI Joe vs Cobra Commander... or Batman Joker, you kill your arch enemy and then you don't have a boogey man to fight

No, that stuff is all small ball. I'm talking about the unprecedented, sickening multi-trillion increase in our national debt. I'm talking about 135% increase in food stamps. I'm talking about $4/gallon gas while our own resources are throttled. I'm talking about the loss of our country's AAA credit rating. I'm talking about union goons being bailed out, coddled and put ahead of bondholders by an obedient president. I'm talking about fast and furious. I'm talking about 26 year old Americans who aren't ashamed to be treated as children. I'm talking about an ill conceived, unpopular, unconstitutional Obamacare that will soon die anyway.

I don't care if he has an R or a D in front of his name, he's got a huge L on his forehead.

The downgrade was the Republican Congress's fault, and the rest of that shiat (with the sole exception of Fast and Furious) only exists in your head.

Il Douchey: cc1984: I'm sorry. Was the "abject failure" not any of those?

Really? The most comprehensive healthcare reform in 50 years is small? Killing the most wanted terrorist responsible for the worst terrorist attack in 60 years is small? You're proving the point that Obama has to be twice as good in order to be considered average.

I'm talking about the unprecedented, sickening multi-trillion increase in our national debt.

It's unprecedented because the previous president left off the two massive, unfunded wars. It's due in part to a devastating recession and hindering attempts to crawl out of the recession.

I'm talking about 135% increase in food stamps.

Once again, due to the crippling recession; would you prefer we let people die?

I'm talking about $4/gallon gas while our own resources are throttled.

Not even remotely true, or something that can be easily fixed by Obama.

I'm talking about the loss of our country's AAA credit rating.

You mean when the Republicans refused to compromise, even when offered a deal near-identical to one they themselves proposed?

I'm talking about union goons being bailed out, coddled and put ahead of bondholders by an obedient president.

Who with the what now?

I'm talking about fast and furious.

Yes, a boondoggle, but nearly the "abject failure" you think it to be... hell, even if it were, that's ONE thing. Bush seemingly did nothing in response to multiple warnings about potential terrorist attacks within the U.S. and then we had 9/11.

I'm talking about 26 year old Americans who aren't ashamed to be treated as children.

Who says they're not ashamed? Also, I work two jobs, but don't have benefits through either at the moment, and sorta need health insurance in order to live. Obamacare will help me.

I'm talking about an ill conceived, unpopular, unconstitutional Obamacare that will soon die anyway.

Actually, everything about it is extremely popular, it's only when people hear the word "Obamacare" do SOME have a kneejerk reaction and spew bile. Before the Republicans went on their "Death Panels" tour, the public option was polling in the 60s.

FlashHarry: Aarontology: EnviroDude: And if you are going to hang the success of your foreign policy on killing a guy, then you really don't have much to crow about, do you?

Teabaggers: pro-Osama

lol. well, this is not far from the truth. they were pro-gaddafi when obama was against him. and rush limbaugh famously took the side of somali terrorists when obama gave the order for navy seals to kill them during the maersk alabama crisis.

Limbaugh was also pro-Kony before he became a YouTube star.

2012-04-26 12:49:44 PM
At the end of the day:

Life is getting better for average Americans under Obama. Period. The End. It's math. Look at the economy. Objectively, it is better. And Obama may have prevented it from going to Great Depression levels.

And if someone else is elected, it is possible that will change. If we go back to Bush's policies, it will almost certainly get worse again.

Why not? Bush hung his legacy on the death of 5000 Americans and countless Iraqi civilians for no reason other than he wanted to be a tough guy and call himself a "war president" on TV.

Nah, the Europeans were making quite a fuss about it at the time. The Republicans tried to jump on board but they quickly found that it wasn't going to be a good argument given that their base is a bunch of bloodthirsty maniacs. So instead they went the "he's not giving enough credit to Bush!" route.

So they want to give Bush the credit for killing Osama bin Laden, but they want to give Obama the responsibility for the economy collapsing into a pile of rubble. Yeah, that sounds fair to me!

Il Douchey: OK, then, let's give Barry a free pass on fuel prices; there are certainly other factors that affect it than him. But on a deeper level, is there anything, anything at all that you are willing to admit is an Obama failure? The last mistake that Obama owned up to was selecting Tom Daschle as his health czar. Do you really think (as he apparently does) that his performance since then has been flawless? Does he bear no responsibility after nearly four years in charge for the mess we're in? Is he really in the league of our two or three top presidents ever in your view? Can we fairly hold Obama accountable for anything? or is all this failure the fault of Bush and dirty racism?

Let's turn this around, shall we? Il Douchey, is there anything, anything at all that you are willing to admit is an Obama win? Thus far, I've seen nothing but partisan bullcrap coming from you, never giving the President kudos for anything at all. Never once a good job, wise move, well played, or good idea. You are claiming that the left sees him as faultless, but don't you think it's equally as telling to say that he is nothing but a problem, has no redeeming qualities, and cannot do any good?

Please answer. I'd seriously like to see if you can take as well as you can give.
