and possibly drinking PBR or Miller High-Life too, but in both cases completely un-ironically, which is okay. It's the people carefully copying what you did/wore in the 70's because it's so totally uncool, so people will know how cool they are, that need a swift, strong, kick in the groonies

No, I never drank more than one PBR or Miller. That shiat's nasty. I will cop to the occasional Old Style.

Chicago knuckle-touch. Of all the bad cheap beers I've ever had, to include Nasty Boh, Iron C(sh)ity,Red White Blew, and Weiderman's, I have to say Old style is the least bad, and on a hot day at Wrigley, even enjoyable

Considering it's backed by the UN, I doubt the death penalty will be an option. Probably life in prison.

Who are these people and why do they only exist in your imagination?

What you think of as "hipster" culture is one of the themes of "predominant youth culture" along with hip-hop and emo. Get used to it, Carl "Oldy" Olsen. People aren't consuming these items "ironically" any more then you wore a flannel ironically. It's their youth culture.

An undisputed classic, this cool low-cut sneaker will look great with just about any outfit.
Whether you are out murdering political opponents or completing guerrilla training under Muammar Gaddafi, Chuck Taylor's are great because they feature a very flat rubber sole that makes it easier for one to remain balanced in the feet when focusing on weapon sales in exchange for blood diamonds.

I always thought Chuck Taylors looked really uncomfortable to wear. Not the high top part, I lived in high tops, but there doesn't seem to be much in the way of padding or support. Granted, I've never tried a pair so I don't know what I'm talking about.

When you're young it doesn't matter, but when your feet flatten out the older you get, Chuck Taylor's can be downright painful if you're doing a lot of walking around.

Nah, they were cheap. $20 for shoes and they lasted. I had the tip of a toe on one taken off by a hungry escalator on the CTA. That was probably in the 80's.

This. Now imagine playing high school and university-level basketball in them (and NBA too...). "Chucks" were the gold standard, high-end basketball shoe in the 1950's through the early 1970's.. ZERO support, even with the completely uncool high-tops (guards wore low-cuts, forwards and centers like me wore high-tops). Available in black or white only.
The Chucks available today are no different except for the colours.

Amazed I can still walk....

I had wondered how long it would take for a "but... but... but... Bush!" to be posted. It actually took longer than I was expecting.

I've worn Chucks most of my life and if you throw a halfway decent foam insole in the shoe you probably won't notice much of a difference in general use. Something with a little support but still gives, not gel or memory foam stuff.

People started drinking PBR ironically around here thanks to that scene in Blue Velvet.

I used to drink it now and then, but my favorite was the lost and much-missed Crazy Horse malt liquor.

I dunno. I like Miller High life. Sometimes, one wants a cheapo pilsner. And its better than a lot of cheap beers in that catagory. And I also like Converse for casual stuff. But I'm in my late 30's so, call me hipster all you want. Big woop, what's it to ya?
