The thing about this story is that whoever put it together must be friends with a bunch of racists. Otherwise how did he find so many tweets and put them altogether so fast after the game?

And one of them has a Detroit Red Wiings avatar, so how are we to know these are all Bruins fans?

As a Bruins fan I am not getting a kick out of this behavior.

Some people are morons.

2012-04-26 10:09:23 AM
These people are ignorant assholes... That they call themselves Bruins' fans is irrelevant to that fact.

The Capitals played a great series and pulled off the win in OT of Game 7. To take that and turn it into an excuse to hurl racial slurs on the internet is pathetic and I can guarantee you, no matter how disappointed Bruins' fans are, the vast majority of them aren't throwing around the n-word today.

These morons also demonstrate a remarkable lack of knowledge of the team they claim to support:

Wondering that myself. It would make sense if they all had the same hashtag but unless he was following these people already, it's a bit strange.

2012-04-26 11:06:41 AM
Yeah, most of those tweets are from other teams fans besides the B's. I see a couple detroit fans, blackhawks, and even a lonly POS habs fan too.

It's easy enough to search everyone's tweets for a keyword.

Now why he would search for the N-word other than to prove people say stupid things on twitter is another question all together.

i agree with that. not saying lynch them for using the word. no problem with them using THE WORD. it's stupid and i wanna hit people who call it "the n word". That's the same as saying n!ggrrrer (can't type it out here yay filters)

i'm more just reacting to "that's the first thing these people jump to when a team loses" as my "that's just sad"

that site lets you basically merge keywords and whatnot to find the posts. Someone knew what to look for "boston, niggzeer" and created that wall.

same as how the "titanic was REAL OMG" thing was created.

Something japan did that we refuse to do in America is just shame people. We like to pretend there is no shaming for any reason ever. We will never shame someone unless they are a celebrity or a politician.
But average joe workers are immune from being shamed, regardless of the crap they spew and the asshattery they do.

So publishing this stuff is a start.

I was going to do a Q&D PS of the Bruins bear in a KKK hood or some such nonsense, but I decided against it. The Bruin organization seems to made up of decent enough fellows (except that douchebag Thomas) and their fans aren't as annoying as, say, Flyers or Red Wings fans.

That being said, Twitter is filled with idiots with short attention spans.

The thing about your comment is that's it completely wrong. Check out chirpstory.com - that's how all of the racists tweets were collected so quickly. And the teams these racists support is the biggest problem you take away from this?

Sometimes, it helps to have a clue when you post something.

keylock71: These people are ignorant assholes... That they call themselves Bruins' fans is irrelevant to that fact.

I don't think they're necessarily Bruins' fans. There's a Red Wings logo there, an Eagles picture, a Reds jersey, a Notre Dame logo, etc. Suffice to say that there are assholes everywhere.

Racist shiat bags exist in every fan base...

Interesting interview with Willie. He's always been a class act. Link

Where did the majority of hate and ignorance come from?

"Players and fans, especially when I came to the States. There were only six teams when I was playing. I noticed the racial slurs and remarks in Detroit and especially Chicago. But it really didn't bother me. I just wanted to play hockey, and if they couldn't accept me for the individual that I am... because I had the skills to play in the league. I fought a lot when I first started, not because I wanted to but because I had to. Guys wanted to see what I was made of. I'd drop the gloves. I said, "If I'm gonna leave the league, it'll be because I don't have the talent." It got a little easier as time went on, but I stayed focused on playing the best hockey I could. Soon I gained the respect of not only the players on the opposition but the fans in the stands. I've had racial slurs directed at me at airports and restaurants, so it goes in one ear and out the other."

Seriously? Even a Twitter search for Joel Ward would have turned up a few examples of it instantly, and then anybody curious could have done a search for "Joel Ward n-word" and seen a boatload of them.

Come on now.

As a Boston fan, I'm disappointed, but it's difficult to be really upset when they were holding the Stanley Cup over their heads 10 months ago.

As far as the "fans" putting racist stuff out on Twitter, I doubt it's reflective of 99.99% of the Bruins' fanbase. Racist asswads are asswads.

2012-04-26 11:22:03 AM
Someone threw a banana on the ice during Wayne Simmons' shootout attempt against the Red Wings game in London, Ontario. It's amazing to me that someone went to all that trouble specifically to target one player - do they keep a list of which teams have black players? "Philadelphia is coming to town! Now I need to get a banana, tickets to the game, sneak it into the game and then just find a good time to throw it..."

H31N0US: Boston is a diverse and racially tolerant city. Discuss.

It's a lot better than it used to be... pretty much the same as any large American city.

From the Brazilians and Portuguese in Cambridge, the Italians in the North End, The Irish in Southie, Asians in Chinatown, African-Americans in Roxbury and other neighborhoods, and most recently the South and Central Americans, Boston is indeed a fairly diverse city.

There's been plenty of tension over the years, obviously, but these days, it's not uncommon to see Bostonians of all races and ethnic backgrounds working together to improve their neighborhoods and communities.

dcducote: The correct nomenclature is "wicked n*****"

I have seen some racist shiat here. It has all come from townies who take pride in their shiatty neighborhoods, lack of intelligence, and think racism is part of their identity.

I do not think this is unique to Boston.

One step closer to my predicted 4-0 series loss for the Flyers to such luminaries as the Panthers, Sens or Caps.
